There is no challenge but what makes it official that Brighton is "the best town in the land?"

Nothing, it's a city.

...trouble with English fans at the last 3 Man U euro games and trouble at the last Spurs euro game.

Oh yeah you have some sea and some nightclubs. Silly me! :lolol:

so so much more, sir. It has something indefinable, something intangible. A waster's paradise. A heady combination of high life and low life. A rakish and cheeky side. We have class, style, beautiful buildings and gorgeous countryside aplenty. A magnet for creativity and an anything-goes spirit. A tolerance of non-conformity and a rebellious streak that is indefatigable.

Yet we also are proudly democratic and only Brighton could accommodate somewhere like the Palace Pier right opposite it's biggest gay bar.

It is for me and so many others, a place that is so easy to fall in love with.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Brighton!

Wonderful, wonderful Croydon
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Croydon
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Croydon, wonderful, wonderful
Croydon for me
I sailed up the Thames
And drove down the A23
Through the harbor and up to the quay
And there she stands waiting for me
With a welcome so warm and so gay
Wonderful, wonderful Croydon
Wonderful, wonderful Croydon
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Croydon
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Croydon, wonderful, wonderful
Croydon for me
