As of the start of the 2011/12 season Cardiff and Swansea are governed, at least in part if not fully, by the English FA.

was due to Cardiff being investigated for 3rd part by football league, not sure they could punish them under the welsh fa

There are no rules against 3rd party ownership in the FAW rule book so no sanctions could have been brought against Cardiff by the English FA, so that is part of the reason for the change. Others include the fact that FAW were responsible for player discipline when a Cardiff or Swansea player is sent off or booked.

All this does is prove you were way off the mark when you said Rangers or Celtic joining the English League system is no different to Cardiff or Swansea being in it already.

To be fair, there's an English team (Berwick Rangers) playing in the Scottish League, so it's only fair there should be a Scottish team playing in the English league in return. Much as Celtic would be good for the English game attendance-wise etc, I think it would be fairest to pick the nearest one to the border, which would be Annan Athletic I believe.

Gretna played in the English leagues until they were voted in.

BBC Sport - Bill Miller withdraws bid for Rangers

Be such a shame ok they got them self in the shit, but still that league is dead without them and Celtic, if they go Celtic might as well move south and join the English leagues.

I think they will fold and start from the bottom.

Both teams have wanted to join us for years , the question is at what level do they start. And which teams lose there position to make way for them fairly

Celtic and Rangers used their power to destroy Scottish football, they lead the way in home clubs keeping gate money, pushing for the lions share of T.V. money,f***ing over the league structure and this ludicrous 4 games a season (without cups) against each other(does the SPL still have this in season top 6/bottom 6 split stupidity ?).
They spend fortunes on overseas players that wouldn't be able to grace our div2 and deny the Scottish youth a chance.

They made the mess, let them die there.

First a clueless post.....................
Wait, the Rangers fans were chanting that about the guy who was about to save their club ? What idiots !!!

Then someone with a bit of nous.....................
Seems theRangers fans were very sceptical of Millers bid........and I can understand that. Rangers are screwed financially, and it needs an 'owner' who has a passion for the club. Miller has never been to Ibrox, knows nothing about football and it would appear, has been looked upon as an 'asset stripper'.
Didn't we have someone in our past who fitted that description......?

Rangers fans looked at Millers bid with sceptisism (sp?) due to the fact he has never been to Scotland let alone Glasgow or Ibrox. His 'incubator' scheme means a new Rangers company (a newco) would buy the assets - Ibrox, Auchenhowie training facility and the players contracts for £11.2m but leave the debts with the 'old' Rangers!! You don't have to be a genius to work out what MAY have been in the back of his mind - more importantly he clearly didn't understand the history, tradition and importance of such a great sporting institution both within Scottish football and Scottish society generally or the level of finance required to get it out of the mire and move forward!!

Given that wealthy Rangers supporters/owners were the cause of the financial mess the club now find themselves in, an outsider with an interest in sport and a gift for business may well be what they need at Ibrox.

I don't know enough about Miller to sit there and make an informed judgment on him. Neither do Rangers fans. Could he have screwed their club any worse than Murray and Whyte have done? I doubt it.

Yank out? They should be careful what they wish for as they may get another fan of their club running things with more of an eye towards out-spending Celtic over securing Rangers financial future.

Celtic should buy Rangers, then re-name them The Pope's O'Rangers, just to see what happens.

I take it you've never heard Celtic fans singing their partisan republican songs then????? Or is that ok?

Too true, I have some mates who are Rangers fans and they say Celtic do this all the time but get away with it!!!!!!!

Hope the 'Gers' survive but would not advocate either Rangers or Celtic in the EPL
