They took country to a rock audience, incorporating the harmony talents of Poco or Beach Boys, the musicianship and songwriting of Byrds and New Riders of Purple Sage.
Brilliant songwriting, but like the Fab Four - their egos and superstar attitudes got boring, esp. Don Henley. Money and fame corrupts everything it touches.

Timothy B Schmit replaced Randy Meisner as the bass player in Poco when Meisner joined The Eagles, then Schmit went on to replace Meisner as bassist for The Eagles when he (Meisner) left.

Almost like Poco served as Eagles Reserves (at least in terms of bassists)

I would ignore all the shit comments Frutos, it's a fad like calling Dire Straits shit because they are no longer good to be seen to like. The Eagles shit? I suggest anyone with that opinion has a shit musical taste and/or no ear for music or harmonies. Don't like them fine but shit I don't think so.
