I'll be adding to the second jab statistics next week. Could have booked it for tomorrow, but the stinky cold Junior Orange has given me has put a stop to that idea.

(Yes, I have done a self test to be on the safe side)

Things looking good here in Wales.

Eight Welsh counties reported no new Covid cases on Wednesday with a further seven reporting just one positive test.

With all old people in homes being tested every week, there has to be a change of wording as surely death after 28 days for someone over say 85 is a fact of life ?

Me and the Mrs have just got back from the racecourse for our first jabs. They actually ran out of Pfizer so we had to have Astrazeneca instead. Hoping for no side effects.

Maybe one to have a chat about on the Covid Forum Loz.....remember also that the deaths reported today will be spread over various dates.

Exclusive: Social distancing not needed at big events, Boris Johnson to be told
Report to say crowds can return from June 21 after trials with fans found no increase in Covid cases

Social distancing for large events can be scrapped from June 21, Boris Johnson will be told next week after initial results from a pilot scheme found no spike in Covid cases among attendees.

An interim report into the reopening trials will advise the Prime Minister that crowds can return safely and without distancing provided that measures such as staggering entries and good ventilation are in place.

Government scientists have been monitoring the impact of letting fans back into an FA Cup semi-final, Carabao Cup final and World Snooker Championship.

Conclusions from the early data are contained in the report and a covering note to be given to ministers next week, details of which The Telegraph has learned.

Extract from the DT........

New data suggests that 22 million people are now living in parts of the UK that have not reported a single coronavirus death in the last month.

The news has been hailed by a Government scientific adviser as a "really good sign" that "gives us confidence".

In more than four in 10 council areas in April, nobody was recorded to have died within 28 days of a positive test.

The data was described by Dr Mike Tildesley, from the University of Warwick and a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling (Spi-M) group, as "really good news".

"We've seen several parts of the country where prevalence is really, really low. So, I think it gives us confidence," he told BBC News.

The areas that reported no Covid deaths in April also tended to have fewer confirmed cases in March. On average, those places had 150 cases per 100,000 people in March.

Dr Tildesley's comments come amid growing optimism from scientists that the government should be emboldened to ease restrictions on June 21.

Unbelievable scenes at the Riverlodge surgery in Lewes today. A queue of people waiting for the vaccine stretched from the surgery all the way down to the high street, must have been 200-300 people queueing.
