Hopefully might lower the fear factor a little.
I know it’s a very transmissible virus and we all should be very cautious, but in the long run there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to lead normal lives.
Some people are genuinely terrified to step outside their houses in case the virus gets them, I find that incredibly sad because we all know that isn’t how it works, and it’s so detrimental to people’s mental well being.
Yes caution is needed, absolutely, but I had a customer come to me today who hasn’t been out in the sun since before lockdown started, not even for a walk ! She was very surprised how normal it was out and about, and that life was continuing despite all this.
Just goes to show how the media have affected people in different ways.

No second peaks anywhere in Europe, including places that eases over a month ago such as Austria, Norway & Denmark. Infection rates still falling/stable despite easing of many restrictions, I think this phase of the outbreak is dying out pretty fast across Europe now, maybe coinciding with warmer temperatures.

My mum is in her eighties and yesterday was the first time she went to the local supermarket since lock down. Think being in so long has done her head in a bit, and insists continuing with internet shopping for her.

I bl00dy well hope BoJo and his chums are taking the opportunity to build up stocks of PPE, ventilators, trained doctors & nurses, etc, etc ready for the cold weather. Somehow I think that IF it comes back again in November/December we'll once again find ourselves under-prepared - at the same time as being on the brink of a No Deal end to the transition period. What a great time to be a proud Brit :)

NHS England deaths down from 350 last Tuesday to 174 today, increase on yesterday but this is normal with weekend reporting, week on week trends are coming down dramatically.

Seems to be declining much more rapidly than even the most optimistic predictions. Very encouraging.

Tests per million of population in the UK now higher than - yes - Germany...............

Is that good news? Apart from the tests undertaken as part of a study, you have to have the symptoms to get a test, so presumably it just demonstrates how many people have symptoms. Also, it seems that the number of applicants for tests exceeds the testing capacity. So - we should be doing even more tests!

What you're being told is that this thread is only for the discussion of positive news stories relating to the virus, and related positive discussion. It's supposed to be a beacon of light for those struggling with what has otherwise been quite a troubling time for many.

There are plenty of other threads here to cover what you seem to want to discuss >>> https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/forumdisplay.php?86-Coronavirus-Covid-19

Both my parents are in their eighties too, I have been doing their internet shopping for months now, it is so hard to explain to them that certain products they don't have sometimes especially when its there favourite brand of biscuits!

On the plus side they do get out for a short walk every now and then and the village has been like a ghost town.

It's coming up to their 60th anniversary and Mum thinks she is going out to a restaurant, trying to get her to understand is difficult in the lest.

The sooner it's safe for them the better.

Mouldy, please private message me. 60th anniversary is a big one. I would like to send a bottle of good stuff, or send you the cash, so you can get them a bottle. From the Albion family. To try and make up in a small way for not getting out to their favourite restaurant. What else can one spend it on right now? Wedgee.

OK point taken. It’s a good debate, but I get that this thread isn’t the right place. Apologies.

Thank you so much for your very kind offer, please don't worry about it, I was lining up some treats. But the thought has blown me away.
I will of course tell them about your kind thoughts.:bowdown:

Good news for me is my mum down in Sussex. She's quite a remarkable women, having had MS for 40 years, still walks up to the local shop and if you spoke to her on the phone you'd think it was someone half her age.

My brother has been a hero and "locked her down". Yep Mum - IT'S LOCK DOWN TIME.

I was reasonably anxious up here especially during the peak, but if anything she keeps me going on the phone rather than the other way round.

Hope everyone's elders are also doing ok and those who know me on here, I hope to see you all soon.

Mouldy and I have spoken privately. They have some good stuff planned for the 60th. Sounds like a real proper salt of the earth Albion fan. Happy daze.

Try it with a 92 year old...the look of disgust when I couldn’t get hold of a tin of evaporated milk despite trying two stores :moo:
