It seems that the system was down for part of yesterday - that seems to be a reason for the very low number (according to the Guardian)

Hadn’t seen that reported anywhere, the deaths are from the last 5 days only there is no deaths added from before that, so either they are up to date with the backlog now - or the system could have been down. I’m sure we’ll find out for certain at the daily press conference.

Good signs though, the downward trend is continuing week on week.

Thank **** the Guardian stamped on that! I was terrified that some good news was actually going to slip past the net there, would’ve been the first time since mid-March.

Phew.

Phew.

NHS England has announced that a further 90 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus in England, a sharp drop from yesterday’s figure of 181.

However, they said: “The Covid Patient Notification System did not operate for a period of time on Saturday 16 May. The consequences of this situation may therefore be reflected in the number of deaths reported today by NHS England and NHS Improvement.”

So you would prefer a news outlet left out bits of the news?

There are a few I think, one on the A22 near Chelwood Gate, used to drive past it everyday when I worked for Cats Protection.

Still there although obviously not open at present. Nice positive article (from the Grauniad I note), good PR for Llamas who seem to be thoroughly decent mammals with many laudable qualities.

They even inspired a Monty Python sketch which older members may recall.

Italy infections and deaths stable, remaining low and under control. In fact it seems everywhere that has eased lockdown has the virus well under control still, even places who have eased restrictions much more than we have, i wonder if it’s purely the power of social distancing starving the virus of spread or if something more is at play here. (Virus weakening, temperatures etc)
