Does every single post about the Coronavirus death figures really have to come with handwringing “But of course that's no solace to those who’ve lost loved ones RIP etc etc etc” disclaimers? Can it not just be taken as read?

No, it's what makes most of us human.

Last Sunday NHS England - 327 deaths
This Sunday NHS England - 178 deaths

Caveat that no death is good, but continuing the downward trend.

2-3 more weeks should see it driven right down.

Ammo for delaying any significant changes to current measures..fine by me..just show me the road ahead (with obvious caveats)

This.

Don’t throw away the progress made.

Outdoor cafes, plus garden centres and shops opening, with the social distancing seen in supermarkets at least, with barbers and similar, would be enough.

One eye on other countries that have relaxed rules and the death rate has increased (Spain & Germany? )*

* no source just thought I caught it on a news bulletin. Also sorry it's not good news.,

Of course infection rates will go up, no one has said they won’t, it’s the nature of the beast !
I believe the experts have always said the key is to keep them at manageable levels.

Reports from a biotech firm in US suggesting antibody monoclonal drugs could be available from late summer - so a drug created specifically for treating Coronavirus. Could be taken as a preventative measure or to lessen symptoms once infected. Could be an important middle step before the vaccine gets here.

Any drug that can reduce the death outcome to a "stay in bed for a couple weeks" illness is a game changer.
