Swindon, but used to be Manila
Spain 721 new cases, continues to stay stable and even fall slightly. (2666 new cases reported due to antibodies testing)

I am beginning to wonder if this virus has a ‘life span’ as has been muted by some scientists and researchers, if you look at most countries the cases begin to die out between 60-90 days whether there is a harsh lockdown or not.

We can but hope

If all passengers were made to stay in Government run centres as I believe was the case in Australia then it’s perfectly enforceable.

Must be plenty of hotels with spare rooms lying basically dormant around virtually every major airport (and if there aren't there must so few inbound flights at the moment they could be redirected accordingly).

From the link:
"People arriving in the UK would have to self-isolate at a private residence.
Government and aviation sources told BBC News that the quarantine would mean people might be expected to provide an address when they arrive at the border."

Unenforceable.
Pointless.

Government run centres? Where?
100/150 people on each arriving plane and the centres would soon be full.

Part of me thinks it’s just to try and shut the “close the borders” argument down.

This is very promising - as they’ve had a similar journey to us.

Mentioned recently about keeping an eye on the Worldometers site, specifically the Serious or Critical Cases global tally.

It dipped just under 50,000 for the first time in a long time a couple of days ago. It’s now at 48,001.

Weekends seem to be bad time for the good news thread. Too much time on peoples hands to derail the positive stuff

Even more unnecessary politics and totally off-topic. Please stop.

Not great news for the deceased or their relatives. Many lives cut short - fairly horrible death. Let's wait a bit before we celebrate.

Today’s figure is affected by the bank holiday as well so will be lower than previous Saturdays. Totally get where you are coming from mate, but unfortunately these numbers are the only real way we can tell where we are, every individual number is a family member lost to someone, and so unfortunately we end up in a position where 350 although not good, is much better than previously.

Indeed - but I object to the word "celebrate" :)

Does every single post about the Coronavirus death figures really have to come with handwringing “But of course that's no solace to those who’ve lost loved ones RIP etc etc etc” disclaimers? Can it not just be taken as read?
