Unlikely at the moment you will get a vaccination by then, but I'd be surprised if they impose that because there is no evidence (yet) that even after vaccination you can't pass the virus on.

Vaccine works inside your body, not outside of it.

I'd imagine travel will be eased on a number of factors, but mostly how much virus is around at the time (in this country) and to what level the country you are going to is vaccinated.

No sensible country is going to allow a number of foreigners in until they've vaccinated their own.

This has been by far the most reliable indicator of trends since last March. And showing a very steady downward trend now, with no obvious reasons why that trend should do anything other than continue, as effects of lockdown + vaccine kick in, followed by spring. Keep it going another 4-6 weeks maximum, and I think we'll be seeing restrictions start to lift, slowly but safely and permanently.

Deaths will stay high for a while yet unfortunately but as we have (hopefully) all learnt by now, deaths are sign of where we were in terms of the pandemic. Not where we are going.

I've always found the Zoe app to be the most accurate guide to direction we are headed in

With EVERYONE saying they are going to Cornwall this summer, I think Cornwall will tip into the sea come August.

This last lockdown feels very long, but this is what keeps me going. We should hopefully start to see the outlines of a roadmap in a couple of weeks or so.

Dom Raab said they will consider lifting restrictions in March so probably another 6 weeks before we see a clear exit strategy back into some toughened up tiers.

Yeah, I think early March we will see some very minimal easing - either specific areas back into Tier 3/4, or blanket rule of 6 outdoors, schools reopened.

But I also think it would be helpful to start to get hints of that roadmap around early/mid-Feb, and as we know with this Government, everything gets leaked early.

Maybe a debate that can be enlarged up over on the COVID forum ..personally I think they’ll need to as people will see many millions vaccinated by mid Feb and hopefully all those over very important stats going down ..and will vey much want to know the next step (obvs just my opinion)

Agreed - first step of moving back through the tiers I reckon with very proactive and regular reviews thereafter - once the trend starts noticeably down, it'll speed up commensurate with the pace of the vacc programme. I think at the moment they're terrified of too much positive news leading people to relaxing compliance too early. We'll just have to keep cutting through the BS and putting the facts on here. Official figures in an hour or so hopefully

I have to be honest, I'm surprised but very encouraged by how quickly those case numbers have come down. There seemed to be a lot of conjecture, a little over a week ago, that this latest lockdown wouldn't be sufficient in light of the new variant and a more relaxed attitude towards it by the public.

Early days still, but it does seem to be working. We're now approaching 50% lower than when this latest lockdown was announced on 4th January, with a consistent daily decline in case numbers. I thought the notion of kids going back to school after the [so called] February half-term was folly, but if the numbers continue to drop and if we have vaccinated a large proportion of the vulnerable by this point then maybe it's doable.

Me too, really quite dramatic and there hasn't been less testing - if we the start to think about those dropping infection numbers (assuming trend continues) and the intersection with the vacc programme it's quite easy to see the path to lower hospitalisations, lower deaths and easing of restrictions. Just a question of timing now provided we maintain progress.

Yup - I’m a bit fat and will be going with my family up to see Mrs Mellotron’s family in Nottingham once we’re allowed.
