Thinking more on it, I'm quite pleased to see circa 140,000 vaccinations in the first week, given we've barely just got going and only have the Pfizer vaccine available, which we know is difficult to store and distribute.

GP practices will give this a decent uplift in the coming weeks, then I think it's all about the Oxford approval. We apparently already have around 5m+ doses of this ready to go, easily stored. As soon as approval is given, I think we'll start to see the mass vaccination centres get going and a massive uplift in vaccinations will occur.

Is the Tom Cruise story good news? To be fair it's a pretty similar reaction to when someone comes within 2 metres of me without good reason and he has a point.

On another positive note, the restrictions this Christmas have given me an excuse to not let the father-in-law come and visit, can't stand the bloke.

The one bit from that article that had bypassed me up until now was the plan to have everyone vaccinated by April, most definitely light at the end of the tunnel stuff.

My understanding of the “everyone vaccinated by April” is that it usually means, as Prof JVT stated “the most vulnerable 33% of the population who contribute 99+% of the deaths”.

But yes, still a very positive target if realistic, as we hope.

Yes, I think that qualifies. Good for him. I saw the headline and assumed it was just another superstar tantrum, but hopefully the crew learned a lesson about personal responsibility, which we will need a lot more of to get out of this mess.

Is that in Brighton?

My mother-in-law (83) is in Brighton and is waiting for a call.

BTW, I believe you're ex CH? It's being used as a Vaccination centre.

It is in Pershore where they live, indeed ex Housey as we my sister's at Hertford

Q: Will social distancing end once the vulnerable have been vaccinated?

Johnson says a few weeks ago he spoke about the cross-over point, when vaccination would allow measures to be eased.

We are “by no means there yet”, he says.

But he says that point will come before Easter.

Dad had his vaccine successfully today at St Augustine's church hall. It was a well oiled machine full of lovely people - the whole thing took around an hour (a few stages to go through and 15 minutes to wait after the jab) and Dad at 82 seemed to be one of the youngest there. Great work from everyone to get this all set up and working so quickly.

Seems widespread testing is coming closer to being a reality;

Furlough extended until end of April, hopefully signals tentative signs we can come out of much of our current tiered lockdown in early May.

Hmmm - there hasn't been any in Tier 3 areas yet apart from Liverpool, though they're just starting in Huddersfield.

Sorry - wrong thread again I know!
