Doesn't have to be in a care home setting as far as I can tell as the person I mentioned above lives at home. According to the NHS website it's being done for the over 80s if they've already got an appointment booked for something else.

Coincidentally she's just been contacted this morning and is booked in for this Saturday! I'm so pleased, been so worried about her.

A friend's mum is getting the jab on Wednesday, he lost his dad last year so this is going to be a massive weight off of his mind.

Love to hear it. :smile:

Dad's had his phone call this morning. Luckily I was there to take it as both parents have dementia. It was a very dodgy sounding phone call to be honest but ended up being legit so first vaccination booked for this week.

Another 100+ GP sites will receive Covid vaccine deliveries today, and more are planned for later this week, NHS England has told Pulse.

Whilst wanting to share positive news, I'm hesitant to put stuff in here that's too unsubstantiated. However, a couple of sources that have generally been decent on timelines previously are now suggesting that Oxford/AZ could see approval by/on Thursday.

Added to the above;

David Prior, Chair of UK's National Health Service, has said the country could approve the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine within a few days. This development is significant since Britain gave emergency approval to the vaccine developed by US-based Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech last week.

"Our hopes are pinned on the vaccine. We are hoping it will be approved within a matter of days," Prior said at the FICCI's annual general meeting on Saturday.

It's carnage in Walthamstow. Kids are catching it all around, both my 12 year olds best friend at school and one of my 9 year olds class mates caught it a fortnight ago. My 5 year old nephew lives round the corner, contracted Covid then a few days later both of his parents got really ill from it. Then when the local authority gets the balls to close the schools - the government tells them to re open. I've kept my daughters off school for the extra week anyway, so we can see my Dad over Christmas. This government is obsessed with keeping schools open and showing it's in charge, at the detriment of the health service.

Hopefully they get their ducks in a row sharpish with regards publishing a weekly vaccinated number, and showing some progress through the priority groups. People need that to feel a sense of progress as we move into the New Year.

I honestly think it will help with both vaccine uptake and continuing to stick with restrictions - IMO people are more likely to flout/disregard rules if it all feels a bit endless and meaningless.

It sort of feels like an easy win to give the vaccinated number, after all the records must exist. To quote the ancient philosopher Jeremius Clarksonio, how hard can it be?

With the risk of being negative on a good news forum, it shouldn't be too difficult to know when or what people have died of either, but it does seem that figures are problematic...

In an attempt at bringing some positivity, I suspect they are scrabbling around to get this sorted as soon as possible atm.
