Can we have a poll to see if it's pole or poll? And get a Pole to adjudicate.
I was going to point out that it's poll, but I thought someone would be adverse to my pedantry (probably Simster:D).

I honestly thought there was a new invention at Wetherspoons - a pole covered in butter, on which punters can slide their slice of bread round, to avoid paying kitchen staff a minimum wage.
There are two poles in every Wetherspoons. One as a long range service to help the chef push the start button on the microwave and one to stir the slop tray before it gets poured back into the barrel.

There used to be loads more but they’ve all left since Brexit.

Always butter both and always butter into the corners. The middle will take care of itself.

Often neither. If adding another condiment, butter can be omitted imo.
Is the right answer.

Anything and mayo or mustard and mayo doesn’t need butter. Nor does cheese and pickle.

Bacon and sausage sarnies need both sides buttered with brown sauce.

I can take or leave it with beef. Butter with English mustard but no real need with horseradish cream or Dijon so long as you don’t mind the spice that comes with lots of condiment.

No one butters the bun on a chicken burger, which can be chicken, mayo and lettuce just like a sandwich.

What if I butter each slice twice on both sides of the slice?

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Where is the 'neither' and 'it depends' options.

Ham and jam its both sides.

Smoked salmon one

Bacon egg and sausage, neither.
A ham and jam sandwich?

Burn the witch........ :flameboun

I use a knife, not a pole.

If somebody has said that before, I apologise. I just couldn't be arsed to read through a thread that should probably just be deleted anyway. In fact, I think i wi........
