I see there are so far four, presumably thrifty Scots, voting one piece only

Following a heated debate at the local Wetherspoons, I bring back this point of topic

Do you butter both slices of bread for a sandwich, or just the one slice?
Where is the 'neither' and 'it depends' options.

Ham and jam its both sides.

Smoked salmon one

Bacon egg and sausage, neither.

I butter both.
My Mrs butters one.
My stepdaughter doesn't butter either.

I don't know how long I can keep living with these savages.

It's suddenly become clear why there are lots of fights in 'spoons. It all starts with butter.
Both for me.

Can we have a poll to see if it's pole or poll? And get a Pole to adjudicate.

I'm not surprised she doesn't butter either with the amount you and the Mrs have already slapped on

Do you really need butter if you've got mayo, for example?

Anyway, I bet half the posters aren't even using real butter.
Yes.
And I usually use proper butter, I make cheesecakes so I always have it knocking about in the fridge.
