Lord Bracknell
On fire
Here's a goodie, not to be missed ...
The Boy’s Own Story by Peter Flannery
at the Pavilion Theatre, Brighton Dome, September 14-18th
On the stage:– Real turf and a real goal.
In the goal:– John McKenna, the best goalkeeper never to play for England.
Reduced to playing Sunday League football for Saltdean, our boy McKenna remembers the Wembley Final he played; explains what drove him to goal-keeping; confides his hatred of all footballers; and wonders why his life is falling apart.
Shakespeare Globe actor Jem Wall will play McKenna in Peter Flannery’s hilarious and touching play.
Jem’s been in training with Brighton & Hove Albion’s goalkeeping coach John Keeley, and The Boy’s Own Story is the first show to be performed on real grass (watered and mown each night), kindly provided by the ground-staff at Brighton. The goalposts are also courtesy of the club.
Don’t miss a great night out with the beautiful game.
Tickets £10, £8 concessions, £5 under-16s. Ticket Office 01273-709-709, or book online at http://www.brighton-dome.org.uk
