You can't both be right!

I make out the same figure as Shropshire Seagull for 2020, doubled again for 2021 is my figure, either way you can't afford it.

:p

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
I’m surprised Crodo missed the most exciting news of all. This is the first time in 166 years there will be a woman umpire, Sarah Winkless.

Got to be one of the top 3 greatest sporting events in the UK each year. I had the pleasure of travelling up to watch it some three or four years ago and me and Mrs Crodo had an absolute hoot, the atmosphere was absolutely electric.

Like many other things of course the 2021 Boat Race will be different, held on the River Ouse to avoid the many hundreds of thousands who congregate on the Thames every year, so we will all be forced to watch it at home and watch it with fake crowd noise, but there will still be many millions watching for what is a sporting institution. Can't be many better ways to spend an Easter Sunday afternoon. Had a cheeky twenty quid on Cambridge -0.5 lengths as well.

FA Cup Final
Wimbledon
Grand National
The Derby
Six Nations (and all that goes with it)
London Marathon
Conkers @ Crawley
The Open

Top three you say......

Today's the day

Hope everyone enjoys this magical occasion wherever you are watching. I imagine with fine weather many will be doing as we are and having a few friends over to watch it socially distanced in the garden.

At the end of my tether
It will not be the same if it is taken away from The Thames. Putney to Mortlake , past Fulham F C ... classic. Putting it on the Ouse is like running The Derby at Brighton race course.... just not the same thing

I do get why they are doing it though. There are enough Covidiots to make a third wave.......

Listening to the male commentator, I was expecting to see two labradors running along the riverbank!

This is the one where the winning team all put their cox in the water.

Doesn't work so well when it's written down

I am aware that Ouse is a very common name for an English River but my first though that was that the winners would get a barrel of Harvey's to share :)

I remember my mum saying that when the boat race was on just after the war nearly everyone was wearing rosettes and light/dark colours to support their particular team. It was a big occasion right through to maybe early 80s when there was a decline in surrounding the race.

This is rubbish.
All the skill and tactics of the bends and the tide etc have all been taken away, surely they could have found a river that was a bit similar.
