I wouldnt think so, as I was told by one of my customers in the winter of 2002 that he had been up at Falmer preparing the roads for the new stadium. He was working for Gambles and they had employed surveyors to plot the new roads etc. He may have been bullshitting but he appearred to know all about it and said that it was in preparation for when we were given the go ahead so as it could be started ASAP after then.

If that is the case (which i would imagine it is) then all is well. Reading the stadium blog it is still a year long project running from April to April so if it was delayed 6 months would this not have meant September to September?

all the lickers in the know thought it would be a laugh to make us think it was big news

club lickers having a laugh at us
I'm going to rise to this piece of nonsense posted by vulture - but ONLY because he has already accused me (on another thread) of being one of the 'lickers'.

The implication is, I think, that members of the Falmer For All team always know in advance what is going to be announced by the Club and that we take some sort of pleasure in keeping stuff away from the rest of the fans.

This is NOT THE WAY IT IS.

In the case of this announcement ... I knew about the planning permission for the Stanmer Park road being approved, but only because this had been announced on NSC by someone who had attended last week's PUBLIC meeting of the City Council's committee that had taken the decision. And I knew nothing about the whittling down of the list of potential contractors (to two) until I read it on NSC.

Got it, vulture?

Now answer this ... Why the hell do YOU think it's necessary to accuse some of us of "having a laugh"?

This is NO NEWS. Its just a few more boxes ticked in the long and weary road to Falmer. Nothing newsworthy at all. Stamner Road is being widened whoopy do, wasn't that a pre requisite anyway of building the stadium. We have noarrowed in down to 2 contractors, whoopy do, so fecking what we know we have to appoint a contractor to do it so the fact we have got it down to 2 , this is news , how ?.

I am BORED and TIRED of the whole bloody thing so please do not insult our intelligence in dressing this up as good news or even news except that there is no way the building works will start in Decemeber and no way on Gods earth we will be playing at Falmer season 2010/2001.

Right here, right now
Sorry Uncle S, but I have to disagree. It IS news because we are continuing to move forward towards getting Falmer Stadium built.

After 11 years of waiting, aren't we allowed to treat every such move forward as a piece of good news?!?!

at least its something

i was expecting something bigger but ohh well

its a step forward at least

The ONLY reason that this story might piss some people off is that they were daft enough to believe that Insider had been hinting at a big story about a player joining the squad.

There was no basis for that belief, other than the invention of NSC. Nor was it EVER claimed that it would be a 'big' story.

I have no idea why Uncle Spielberg now feels it appropriate to get tetchy with the Club.

It's a small story. And it's good news. That is all.

Trouble is ifthe club do not announce all of the small steps being taken other people will accuse them of keeping fans in the dark.

Damned if they don't, damned if they do.

All good stuff and glad Falmer is moving forward.

LB - there is a certain point to be made as some (and not you) who are closer to the club have come on here and started threads along the lines of "I was talking to Dick last week"................

When this happens it is bound to cause some form of resentment from some and sarcasm over who knows what.

And before you start you should know that we know each other well enough to accept this is not a personal swipe but an observation from what has happened previously.

I wish they would stop doing this.

I bet the next great news will be that they have decided to use rye grass instead of lawn grass for the turf.

No one cares about the detail anymore, we are tired of it all....JUST BUILD THE PLACE!!!

I fully expect this to be hi-jacked by the politically correct but it needs to be debated:

It would appear that three youth deaths occured this weekend that were down to being gang related.

All three were black youths as well so what message does this give us ?

Have we created a society within a society where youths do their own thing ?

Is this on the wrong thread mate
