The BIG News....

Steps in the right direction, forwards to the ultimate prize.

Not spectacular news for some - but if you were to cast your mind back just a short year back, it's outstanding.

I look forward to hearing even the most dull of news - that it rained on the roof at our stadium in Falmer, and that roof got a bit wet. I dream of such boring news.

Why did the club have to wait until today to disclose it, why not do it when it happened and why was it not reported in the Argus.

Maybr they were waiting for 100% confirmation about narrowing down the contractors to two.

Don't forget MP and some of the other members of the stadium team have been working 7 days a week.

Good news and yet people on here still being moaning bastards, I really am ashamed to be supporting the same team as you miserable twats!

This may not be BIG or GREAT but it still is GOOD newsnand you need to learn to embrace it.

Hardly unexpected though because having backed us all the way through enquiries etc the council would look rather stupid if they turn down planning application that are needed to make the scheme work.

They could easily turn them down if they thought is was.

A. Unsafe (this relates to a public highway don't forget)

B. Damaging to the enviroment

C. Would seriously disrupt peoples lives ( I.E. the familys who live in the lodge cottages)

Thus causing another slight delay but what is a couple of months when we have been waiting 11 years. It is like a failed MOT they tell you how to put it right and then next time it passes.

But a couple of delays might have cost us the August 2010 opening.

Agree it would have gone through at some point but we need the last 2 applications to go straight through when they go to comitee.

Only 82 letters of support !!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt think so, as I was told by one of my customers in the winter of 2002 that he had been up at Falmer preparing the roads for the new stadium. He was working for Gambles and they had employed surveyors to plot the new roads etc. He may have been bullshitting but he appearred to know all about it and said that it was in preparation for when we were given the go ahead so as it could be started ASAP after then.
