Either I've been missing it, or, it's back on ITV4, now.

I fookin love this, it's makes a great reminder, esp this week, as to how sh*te football has become.

Arsenal v Forest, all the stars you would expect from 30 years ago, with possibly a very young Nigel Clough sat in the dugout next to daddy.

I love watching old football too, from a nostalgic point of view, but if anything it throws into contrast just how low the standard of some of the top flight play was back in the day. And there was plenty of shirt-pulling, simulation and all the other ills of the so-called modern game.

Also, how did we last so long until the back pass rule was brought in? Large portions of many matches were destroyed by one team (usually Liverpool) repeatedly giving the 'keeper the ball to pick up.

And when was the last time an ORANGE ball was used?

The last time in the Prem that I can remember was Blackburn v Arsenal back in 98 but im sure there has been a more recent top flight match with one.

Any Stattos out there know the answer?

are you two andy gray and richard keys?

or is this just an alternative stance that you hope makes you appear you have more footballing insight, and can see through the hype that puts off a lot of football fans, and appreciate quality football in a way most fans can't as they foolishly cant see past their own nostalgia and jealousy?

if so its not working lads.

How well would our team of 79/80, our first season in the top flight, do in today's Premier League? Of course, I mean the players as they were then, not as they are now. In case anyone needs reminding, this, off the top of my head, was our first-choice team back then.

I couldnt tell you, any who says they can for certain is a f***ing fool, but my feeling is they would get mullered. Arsenal and Forest thats just been on would too I reckon.

What I can guarantee though is that he punters watching had a 1000000000x better laugh than they would in 2009 though.

Football has changed so much in the last 10 years, let alone when we last made it into the top league so it would be impossible to compare.

That season, when Forest were the reigning European champions and we were rooted to the bottom of the league, we won at the City Ground.

there was two decent penalty shouts in this game on today, that today would have resulted in 11 blokes round the ref and mayhem, but just got a few choice words and it moved on fairly quickly.

you would also have seen the big match go back in time itself (it was like looking the wrong way down a telescope) and do a report on some everton cup final with dixie dean every couple of minutes smashing the f***ing shit out of the keeper.

dunno what my point is there though.

The other day, I watched on DVD the 1973 FA Cup final, the first that I remember watching as a kid. The Leeds side of the time was known for being dirty and cynical, but Sunderland were no angels that day. The apparent brutality was standard fare in those days, yet the game saw only one booking, Allan Clarke, for persistent fouling. If that game were played today, it would be abandoned by half-time as at least one of the sides would have been reduced to seven men.

Yeah I gave it a watch earlier and the terracing looked absolutely f***ing quality as all the fans surged forward.

That league table they showed look an awful lot more competitive as well.

Its funny watching these old matches when a player gets hacked down and the ref just waves play on. Even some of the lesser fouls would result in an instant red nowadays.

Ahh, brilliiant programme. It breaks my heart watching Old Football - Good Football & how it's been ruined now, it's a shambles. 500k a week for Kaka, they say? That could have stopped Rotherham, Luton & Bournemouth all from going down.
