Definitely Wilson in my book. A quality attacking midfielder, who could tackle as well. Horton a very close second.

for me Codner was the best attacking midfielder since I started supporting the Albion as he was always in the goals. Jeff Minton was class and could Rod Thomas get a mention? by no means best but must be up there somewhere. Sidwell was class as has been proved

Did Gordon Smith play in midfield? I hazily remember him being moaned at a lot but whenever I've seen highlights of games on the tv he looks like a class act.

Mark Lawrenson - I know! He was a defender, but he played many games in midfield and used to cause defences no end of problems. He was also a superb attacking defender in the mould of Alan Hansen. Sadly for Lawro he arrived at Liverpool after Hansen so had to be content with playing at full-back for most of his Liverpool career. I think he was wasted there although he did win a medal or two!
