Wet snow is definitely the worst for slippery ness. And in UK people aren't using winter tyres. Where I live we had a lot of snow a few days ago, now it's thawing a little. Away from the main roads it's like driving in porridge!
Often most dangerous when the snow starts melting, but then refreezes at night. Treacherous for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians alike the next morning.

To be fair, the Daily Depress did forecast this back in 1997
Maybe in 2033, we might finally get that 'scorchio barbecue summer' the Daily Excess forecasts every March!

I was giving blood at the racecourse at 3ish yesterday. Got there and no snow. Left at 4 and the place was covered. Joked with the nurse that if we got snowed in we'd be okay as we could survive on Seabrooks Crisps, Club biscuits and squash but she didn't laugh. Took me best part of two hours to get home to Preston Park and the drive down Elm Grove (via Freshfield Road and a few backstreets) was one of the most frightening things I've ever done. And probably most stupid too in retrospect.

I've been out of the country this week. At no point did the BBC forecast give any hint that it might snow in Brighton - even while it was snowing in Brighton

The MetOffice right to the wire, forecast sleet for 248m Ditchling Beacon. Local Wunderground stations were all saying 3C or 4C. Temp’s must’ve taken an unexpected dip.

If you look very carefully, you can see some hardy folk at the top of Sharp Edge (Blencathra) at lunchtime today. 845m / 2,770ft.

And the moon came out on my way home from work.
