Had a fair bit dumped here in West Worthing.....settled too and no melting by the look of it. The roads are going to be interesting for me at 7 AM tomorrow.

Had to drive around Worthing today as part of my work, and it became quite tricky. About an hour of heavy snow which settled quite quickly on all surfaces.
Totally unexpected when looking at the BBC weather forecast yesterday.Seems it was quite localised as the news is not saying much about it.

We got a mention and a photograph of Snowy Wothing just now on the BBC national weather forecast !

Thanks for the link. I remember being sent home from Lewes Grammar at lunch time but the train, in which I had to stand because it was packed, didn't get into Seaford until well after dark; it kept stopping and starting with the snow reflecting the sparks from the conductor rail. Trudged home in deep snow with my mum, who'd brought wellies to the station for me to wear. On reaching home discovered no central heating because gas cut off. It was a Friday unfortunately so only missed the one half day of school.

Younger, I missed that entirely and 62/63. My first snow memories were a nearly snow-less 70’s, until the bitterly cold Winter of Discontent 1978/79.

Can't risk crashing the car tomorrow so it looks like it'll be a train to work and back. At least I can then break the journey home with a Brighton stop for pub "refreshments".

Sadly had to spend the day in Wokingham so other than a few flurries I missed it. Got back to Findon and there is a reasonable dusting on cars and grass. Now v cold. 0.5c. Icy roads overnight I suspect. Just been for a small run and that was a mistake on every level!

Amazing what difference the Downs make, Sullington to Worthing about 12 miles, we had a couple of heavy flurries but clearly most. had dropped South side already. Almost certainly going to be icy back roads so won't be using my short cut through Wiston (Physio Clinic in Steyning 10.45)

Indeed…..the second photo is the area next to the leisure centre at Storrington just after 3 this afternoon 👀
Then the first photo the view from Steyning leisure centre ….in the background snow covered hills
Safe journey tomorrow

Looking very cold from mid month. Greater chance of proper snow then according to the amateur weather forecasters.

Back in Sussex
We headed up to Cissbury Ring with the dog around 5ish, so after sunset. It was a glorious Winter Wonderland up there - maybe an inch or so in places, enough to give that satisfying crunch of fresh snow under foot.

We didn't need to use our torches at all as, even without any moonlight, the snow kept everything bright.

Normandy’s the place to go next week for snow, according the most forecasting models, 8” of new snow.

It looks colder than now, we just need the precipitation.

Anyone know how Seaford is snow wise….a26 heading down to Newhaven….supposed to be working in the former tomorrow
There’s nothing here. It was just a bit sleet with an occasional snowflake earlier.
