Is your hill gritted? Wouldn't fancy getting a car down there if not!
Delayed response but yes. Fortunately with the farm at the top needing constant access it always (pretty much) gets gritted.

That’s annoying..it’s not as though someone is going to have any washing out in this weather….i loves a good bonnie
The last time I had a bonfire the fire brigade turned up 😧

I was burning some garden waste in an incinerator, I heard the sirens and could see the fire engine driving around, I thought they seemed to be lost or on a hoax call until they turned up outside. Someone had phoned 999 and said my roof was alight 😧
The fire crew were fine when they saw the small incinerator in the middle of my patio, my wife came home and saw the fire engine outside and had a bit of a shock. :lolol:
I got a council garden waste bin after that.

We're still waiting for the inevitable land grab by the turds at HS2.
Our allotment site borders on one of their many dig sites, and they've been expanding, looking for somewhere to dump all of the earth they've dug up.
Is that what they're doing in that field near the Ickenham Road / Breakspear Road junction? It's been hoarded off for a while and I thought it's in the Green Belt so safe from housing.

Something similar occurred at the Lake Tahoe ski resorts last winter. Barren slopes, then covered in day or two in metres of snow.
That’s where I got married at Lake Tahoe. Lovely place.
Skied Heavenly the day before and day after.

Back on topic, James O'brien took a call yesterday just before noon from the author of a recent government commissioned report [Edit: https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...om-extreme-weather-emergencies-on-uk-highways] on preparedness of the highways for extreme weather. It was fascinating. Essentially its getting harder to predict if it'll snow or not (because of climate change) so there are more 'marginal' events that the hundreds of (cash-strapped) local authorities have to decide whether and how to respond to. Co-ordination between Council's and other responders is poor. You might be able to listen here https://www.globalplayer.com/catchup/lbc/uk/episodes/2zGqZY1Hsp4WdhztKYCVD6dvkG/

Snow in Shoreham has all but disappeared..but just north of the downs it’s still quite snowy
Went into Eastbourne for panto yesterday afternoon. Still snow on the ground / roofs all the way from Uckfield into Polegate. It only disappears once you go down the hill into Eastbourne proper.

Looks like the models are really struggling with what happens next. Yesterday the netweather cold junkies were looking at models suggesting that while we'd get a day or few of warm this weekend, there was a good chance of temps plunging again after that. This morning, the models have changed markedly and the coldies aren't happy about it.
