It was on the local news in South West last night. I know I watched it as I've been down there all week. Drove back this afternoon back to East Sussex. All I witnessed was mainly idiots who thought putting their foot to floor was the way to stop the wheels from spinning.

A couple of inches of snow at best.

Truly pathetic this country.

Watching the forecast is one thing but needing the news and tv presenters, one minute discussing the latest soap opera script and, then telling us how to get hysterical about weather is very sad.

Amber warning my arse.

The only thing I worry about is the homeless.

But "local news in South West" is meaningless down here in Truro, when the forecaster is talking about where they are in Exeter or Bristol.

Uncle Spielberg will rightfully tell us he was right and everyone else was wrong, if that's the case.

Just drove from Worthing to Findon and the difference in snow types is marked with almost actual flakes in Findon and 1 degree lower. Settled for a bit but now stopped. Where has it gone?

Just drove home and it's settled on some pavements and on the driveway. it's amazing the difference just a small bit of altitude gain can make.

Altitude makes ALL the difference, even 100m .

Sky News have just been reporting on the horrific weather in Chicago, I was expecting a in depth report of how bad things were for the poor buggers on the streets but instead a poor woman who actually braved outside for 2 minutes to let her dog puffy out for a slash , she said she wished she had waxed her dogs paws as the poor thing had to lift her legs higher than usual to avoid the snow .

Well done Sky .

The difference is pretty consistent. Working in central Hove/Brighton, then driving home just 3 miles inland and 100m up - it’s always 2C lower in snowy weather, also because we’re farther away from the relatively mild sea and the urban heat island effect.

So many times it’s been the difference between sleet in the city centre, against several inches of settled snow here. Great for the kids and other snow lovers.

Intermittent large flakes here now. Might signal something more significant about to arrive?

Don't be a tease !.. have a thermometer outside and it says 1 degree c , unless there is HUGE flumpage it will melt on impact.
