They are weather models used by forecasters. The GFS is an American model that comes out 4 times a day, and the ECM is a european model that comes out twice a day. the UK model is the UKMO.

And generally ECM and UKMO have a better track record for getting forecasts corect at 5 days.

The first half of the GFS ensembles show a big upgrade for snow chances for Sussex, with 80% on Sunday, with high chances through into Monday

The ECM is in and has snow from Tuesday.

In fact it looks very similar to the GFS, with a low crossing southern England on Saturday, dragging cold air from the continent, which intensifies on Sunday. Monday sees a small low coming from the NNW down the uk, to establish over the near continent, with high pressure building near Iceland. This establishes a strong NE wind, especially down here, with snow likely on Tuesday. After that it stays cold with the high ridging towards Greenland.
I'd say even with this model, there's a chance of snow late Sat into Sunday down here, before the colder air and a further snow chance on mon/Tuesday.

We finally have some agreement for the weekend (of sorts) the only thing to firm up will be what will fall from the sky? Snow/Sleet or cold rain! It certainly looks to be turning colder at least for 48 hours from late Sat the question then will be what happens next? If the Azores HP does not ridge to Greenland then this will allow the Atlantic back in and that's what the GEFS shows, however if it does? BOOM!
