He was very wrong, he shouldn’t have done it, had he done the decent thing and immediately apologised unreservedly in public and also resigned then I doubt we’d be here now. Fool.
However, he’s lost his job and his reputation because of this and god knows where his wife’s mind is at, but prison too? If this was in the UK I’m not sure I’d want the CPS time and money spent on this case on top of the outcome already dished out by his employer and the media.

Not sure it’s so much the act in its entirety as to why he may go to prison, more abuse of position/power and the covering up afterwards he allegedly did.
Tend to agree - but he’s brought this upon himself. Apologise with a bit of humility, take whatever initial punishment is meted out and change your behaviour….better option than acting like an arrogant bellend perhaps.
