Who would be in your ideal 11? [In batting order]
Ask me in [checks calendar] 8months time. :lolol:

Seriously though, without applying too much thought to it:

1 Crawley
2 Duckett
3 Bairstow
4 Root
5 Brook
6 Stokes
7 Foakes (w)
8 Ahmed (realistically, "whoever can bat a bit and bowl spin")
9 Wood
10 Robinson
11 Leach

Could pick Anderson instead of either Wood or Ahmed depending on conditions.
I'm less bothered about Anderson's lack of penetration in India, having somebody who goes at about 2 an over could be useful given the Indians will go after the spinners.
Also obviously depends on who's fit and fit to bowl.

Scyld Berry of the Telegraph, series player ratings (out of 10):

Duckett 8
Crawley 9
Ali 7 (based on useful runs too)
Root 8
Brook 8
Stokes 9
Bristow 6
Woakes 9
Wood 9
Broad 8
Anderson 5
Pope 4
Robinson 6
Tongue 7

Who’ll be the test quality bowlers to replace Broad, Ali and Anderson?
Ali is easiest, I have high hopes for Rehan Ahmed and Leach until he’s ready.

I would expect the seamers in India to be Tongue, Wood and Anderson (reversing it). Longer term there’s Sam Curran, Cook at Essex (not that one), Saqib Mahmood, Olly Stone, Brydon Carse and some others knocking about.

Well, I guess that's all then folks.

No cricket next month (although I think it's the 50 over thingy- perhaps we should have a thread for that). Yes, no cricket in August. NO cricket in August.

Anyone with a short attention span who doesn't really like cricket can start one for The Humbug. It's all yours.

Thank you for a delightful six weeks of fun and interesting debate. I've really enjoyed the stories in here.

I guess we'll all have to go back to that football thing now. Until a very predictable series in India.

Set off from work on my bike with my mobile in my pocket at full volume when they were three down. Got home - 8 down. What a bike ride! Almost came off at one point when I forgot to hold on to at least one handlebar. The old guy walking his dog must have wondered what on earth was going on when I yelled 'Yes - he's gone!' right behind him.

If I was going to write a novel it would have been about hope, despair, believing and then redemption
It’s been the best of Ashes that I can remember. The run out business was a sideshow designed to create a pantomime villan. Brilliant stuff but above all absolutely brilliant cricket.
I have felt privileged.

Yup. Sky, in conjunction with your favourite orange coloured crisps, have ended proper cricket in July. To be fair, though, the weather is already like October.

A week and a bit to get through and it’s Luton at home. Bring it on.

Ignore that f***ing dreadful tournament for fucks sake. If you encourage it then you are crazy. Ok we love Bazball but test cricket needs its history.
Twenty/20 ….. 50 overs…. It’s the County Championship that’s under threat next
