As an aside are people going to post on this thread for each Test or will there be a separate thread for each match and this one left just for general Ashes chat?

Just discovered Now TV are offering a weekly sports pass for £10.99 until November end. I can cope with that for The Ashes. I don't mind paying eleven quid a Test.

A day pass is free for the first day of the current match.

What a pain I bought a weeks pass when Sussex played last Thursday knowing I would get two Ashes days out of it.

But I can see myself buying days.week passes if I am around to watch it live, if not Channel 5 highlights are excellent but clash with TDF on ITV4 so one needs recording

I used to subscribe for the monthly passes during the Cricket season, so I was a bit snakey when they withdrew them. This latest weekly offer will not be much different in cost though.

The Ashes - Second Test 16/07/15 @ Lords

Havent seen another thread on this yet so thought I would get one started.

First news story I've seen ahead of it is Brad Haddin not being involved for the second test due to 'Personal Reasons'.....

Like as a person he isnt good enough??

I think Australia are a better team with Haddin in. I think it's a bonus for us that he'll be missing. Although I'm clearly now teeing it up for Nevill to come in and play a blinder.

In the first test I thought he was poor. Missed a key catch (Root) which cost them dearly, and also didnt bat very well. I'm more nervous about Nevill getting his chance and grabbing it with both hands (excuse the pun).

What are we going to do? Haddin has Haddit and someone has started a 2nd Test thread 2 days early. Do we revert to this thread in between tests? No wonder Australia are 7/5 favourites for the Lord's Test with the bookies.

I'll merge the ROGUE thread with this one, and leave the way clear for Titanic to start the proper second Test one, tomorrow.

Well played, mate. No selfishness and a nice handover.

I see Nevill came in against Tasmania in Feb with NSW 66/5 and took them to 576 with a 235 n.o. bash. Be interesting to see him in a Test over here. Feel sorry for Haddin but like Watson he should have known when to retire and both could have had a better send off. I wonder who next is in line Mr Clarke.

He made a bad mistake with that Root catch, but in terms of batting frankly none of the Aussies batted well. Apart from the catch he kept ok in the first test. Still one of the best the test wicket keeper batmasn in the world in my opinion, one bad game and everyone says he's past it. Haddin wasn't at his best in the first test but I think he definitely has at least one century to come in this series. Like I say, I think Australia will be weaker without him.

I beg to differ. The crowd could sense he was not at his best and it was not just because of the dropped catch. I would prefer him to be at Lord's myself.

Really? Since the last Ashes he averages 15 in tests.
