What disturbs me is the 0.5 ponit. Rather that was left unexplained.

As Easy said in the initial post, the winner(s) of each match are awarded a point. If the match is a draw then each team is awarded ½ point.

Sorry Sten, you've been merked. I was most definitely joking.

If you read on you will see a humourous yet ultimately pointless exchange on the nature of "ponits" between myself and Mr. Easy 10.

I've listened to Paul Azinger - he's uninspiring. I've looked at the USA team - it's also uninspiring.

The European team has a solid look to it, but the only thing that worries me slightly is Faldo's lack of vice-captains. USA have 3, Europe has 1.

We know that whatever happens on the first 2 days it will still come down to the Singles on Sunday, and the event is being held in redneck territory. I would have thought there is scope for it to get lary and turn into another Brookline, therefore Faldo might wish he had a couple more bodies out there to help him keep things cool and focused, e.g. Monty, Lyle, Parnevik.

Europe by 4 points for me. Our team is much more experienced and the yanks are pretty much out of form.
Best bets of the week for me are Garcia (8/1) or Westwood (12/1) to be top points scorer. Both have amazing records in the Ryder Cup which I expect to be continued this week.

Cracking day lined up Friday - Day off work for an 8.30 tee off and then watching the Ryder Cup foursomes in the Clubhouse:clap::clap2:

Starts at noon tomorrow.

Having watched all the "How the Ryder Cup was won" programmes this week, I find myself asking why hasnt Montgomerie been picked, he is an absolute magaician when it comes to the Ryder Cup.

I've also been watching Darren Clarke sinking 30-footers in 2006 to grind and demoralise his stars & stripes yankee doodaa opponents into the TURF.

Still, we've got Poulters zany trousers to look forward to.

Indeed we do. I also saw that 30 footer from the edge of the green, t'was remarkable.

Hopefully this is the year for a new European Ryder Cup legend, I reckon' Harrington will steal the show, apperently he's been on fire in the practice round today.

I thought he was quite entertaining in his conference. I wish they wouldnt make such a ****ing big deal out of his pairings being "leaked" though, that kind of over the top hyping up is what has contributed to the bollocks we see in the Premier League now.

I have a feeling the Yanks are going to spank us. 5-4 the Yanks to win is good in a 2 horse race. I do however like the 8/1 Garcia being the top points scorer but have had a sentimental bet at 25/1 on Poulter with the controversy on him being selected the Union Jack trousered flair player could well raise his game and if he does he could be very good odds.

Anyway come on Europe but I think we are under estimating this American team even without Woods so if if had a £ 100 free bet it would go on the Americans.

Anyone got any decent bets going and for what ?.

It'll be close US, that's for sure but I suspect Mr Nicholas "I have no ego*" Faldo will be returning with the 8 inch trophy come Monday.
I may have a bet on Europe winning the singles - traditionally our weakest area - as I think player for player we are superior.
(* Apart from one the size of the Isle of Wight).

I was convinced of a comfortable(ish) European victory until I heard Faldo's toe-curling Brent-esque speech at the opening ceremony last night. Taking an age to introduce his whole family (daughter would get it), getting players' names mixed up, saying that Padraig Harrington had hit more practice balls than there were potatoes planted in Ireland, then asking Graeme McDowell whether he was from Northern or the Republic of Ireland. I don't expect him to be a master at public speaking (Woosnam certainly wasn't), but this was a rambling mess.

I just hope the talent and experience of the players will be too strong for the US because I fear that Faldo lacks the charisma to lead a team of individuals.
