That’s right man, they’re all in on “it” aren’t they?

Wrap another layer round your head and pipe down.
In fairness the Private Eye chaps were discussing the fact that America doesn't have a BBC and has become very polarised in it's reporting.

There's no media outlet, over there, that both left and right feels is biased towards the other.

I thought PBS was good when I lived just north of the border.

I get this but to then substitute in a biased media outlet because you don't like the biased mainstream media is surely madness.

But I thought the BBC was completely pro Tory and totally anti-government?

Comparing US and UK laws and media like for like is not possible.
US has free speech embedded in its constitution… we pay for BBC and rely (trust) them to be impartial aim all their reporting.
Example is the late show, Jon Stewart was massively influential between 00-09 to the liberal left in US and some may say he was instrumental in creating a space for Trump to appear.
It will be a shit show this year and my only hope is that Americans can pull together 2 better candidates that these 2 rotten and aged old men. One of which is completely senile and is being played by the DNC, the other is a massive narcissist.
The US must do better in 2028 and hope we make it there with either of these 2 in WH in 2025

Nothing reputable about the mainstream media these days.

Those living in the UK wouldn’t get it - and that’s no a slight on anyone here at all.

News/Media in the US & Canada is a totally different animal and game compared to the UK.

‘News’ over here, is private entity, vested interest and ulterior motivated, for maximum profit, entertainment. Which is marketed as “News”. The stories and spin put out depend on the board members political and financial affiliations.

That probably reads and sounds fully tin hat and conspiracy theorist. I promise you that’s just the reality of news entertainment over this side of the water. It’s a shame, because both sides are so far out, and it’s caused an incredible gap between liberally and conservatively minded people - slowly bordering on icy cold civil war type commentary.

The culture here is for better and worse, very very different to blighty.

Course there isn't.

Do you believe her story? It’s typical that when an article is posted on a right leaning site that the content is never considered, only the source, that is ridiculed with a “facepalm” or meme, etc. Left leaning sites like Vanity Fair, lol, get dozens of ”likes”. I think some people are so blinded by hate that they ignore the obvious, even as it smacks you in the face. This story is a prime example.

Much better to believe random online blogs that tell you what you want to hear, eh?

Have you ever heard of an echo chamber?

I hear what you’re saying with regard to America’s media options, but I refuse to believe that both the centre and probably more plentifully the right don’t have some superb journalists working within the confines of professional media organisations with high journalistic standards. The kind of publications where you have to be bloody sure of your ground before publishing because your editor would have you out the door in a second if you were playing silly buggers.

Where the more reputable of those organisations have refused to follow the foil hats down the rabbit hole, the foil-hatters haven’t thought “well, even media outlets I trust haven’t run this stuff, maybe it is just bullshit that I would like to believe because it suits my political outlook.” Instead they’ve stopped trusting media outlets on their own side and created their own blogs and amateur hour “news” organisations publishing bullshit and usually eventually getting sued into oblivion or at least issued with cease and desist orders, which are all retrospective, by which time the damage is done.

This is a circle jerk echo chamber of nonsense that will eventually burn itself out, but probably only after significant damage has been done and a lot of otherwise decent people have been made complicit in some utterly atrocious decision-making.

I try to remain civil, I really do, but whereas Crawley Dingo has definitely been up on a mountaintop waiting for the mothership to beam him up at least twice in his life, others like lasvegan are smart enough to know better, and have allowed themselves to get suckered in to something that they will, if they are the decent human beings I genuinely believe them to be, one day feel at least slightly ashamed of.

It's notable that Trump did not turn up in the civil court to defend himself against the assault allegations.

Why not if he was innocent?

I'm not interested in the story.

But I do think that the journalism of the BBC is decent.

And I don't consider that the crap you apparently follow does you any favours.

The woman is a nutcase.

Seems like a solid article. I mean who wouldn’t agree it was the greatest miscarriage of American justice …

Do you believe that Trump is innocent of everything he's been accused of?
Can you lead me to the whataboutism folder you all draw from?

Is he a Russian spy?
When is he going to be arrested for tax evasion, a la Al Capone?

Do you believe he’s guilty of everything he’s been accused of?

Do you believe her story?
