I think Kamala Harris absolutely rocked it but I’m interested to hear how @Crawley Dingo and @lasvegan explain the debate as a victory for Trump. 🤔
Well, I think Trump did quite poorly and Harris did better than I expected, in as much as she memorized her lines flawlessly without saying anything of substance. She’s an empty pant suit IMO, with not one authentic bone in her body, being run by the same people who are currently running the country, whoever the hell they may be…

ABC were a disgrace, moderators my arse, it was an assault on Trump.

it was an assault on Trump.

That as president should have been able to avoid but he fell right into Harris trap. That is not a guy who should be running the country.

I gotta go now I have been invited to a Haitian cat barbeque in Springfield, Ohio.

Let me know how it goes. I love pets, I’ve heard they’re delicious…

You heard wrong.

No Haitians, no barbeques, in sight.

I'm feeling very sorry for the single cat ladies in Springfield, Ohio who's cats have now been eaten by Haitian immigrants.

Trump assaulted himself.

What did you want the moderators to do?

Not fact check Trump on fetuses being terminated at 9 months?

Interrupt the senile racist old c*** each time he took Harris’ rope and hung himself to try and save him from himself?

The demented sociopathic orange old ****er spouted mostly gibberish and conspiratorial nonsense and got his saggy old arse handed to him by a smarter and much younger opponent who let’s face it, he was shit scared of. He was utterly rattled and ruined from the handshake chase-down onwards. The amount of secret Republican wife Kamala voters in the next election will hopefully blow your closed mind.

Trump has no real polices, he just talks about himself all the time. That appeals to people just like him.

Are you just like Trump? What is it you admire about the nearly-dead-narcissist? What qualities does he bring the Presidency?

Memorized? She didn't know what questions were coming or what nonsense Trump would spout for her to react to.

That's a pathetic 'I've actually got nothing' response.

ABC were a disgrace, moderators my arse, it was an assault on Trump.

Their job was to hold people to account. Harris said it how it is, and Trump kept making up lies, so they had to point that out. I'm not sure whether you're just defending your man at all cost, or if you actually believe the lies.

I instinctively know that's going to be crap, but let's give it a chance...
1) "Harris claimed that she grew up a “middle-class kid.” That is not true. As previously noted by journalist Megyn Kelly, Harris’ father was a professor..."

:ROFLMAO: That's number 1!

So her dad is a good teacher. He's not going to have a disproportionate amount of wealth, he's not got serious political, economic or financial power. I'd say she was right, she grew up middle class.

2) She claimed that Trump's tax cuts benefitted billionaires the most. That's correct, they did. Billionaires saved millions. Obviously all political parties will spin the numbers in a way to benefit their party, and the same can be done here.

3) "Harris claimed Trump will implement a “sales tax.” Trump has not pledged to do such a thing if elected president."
That's not a lie, it's a prediction. As had Trump guaranteed he won't? At this stage it may turn out to be a correct prediction, so it's obviously not a lie.

4) "Harris contended that the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol was the “worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”"
That's probably true too. He tried to overturn the result. Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor (sited by the article) was an attack on the US military, it was not going to (or even intended to) remove democracy.

These claims are a pathetic attempt to pretend that Trump isn't the only liar, but he is. He struggles to speak without lying.

It’s really something when you have the Foreign Office of a European Country having to go on X and fact check* one of the Presidential Candidates in the US election race (and also ensuring him they don’t eat cats and dogs )

*During the debate Trump attacked Harris’ support for renewable energy claiming "Germany tried that and within one year they were back to building normal energy plants”.

Did anyone actually read the Federalist story that lasveg-gas posted?

It's so full of lies itself. A great example from their Supreme Leader of how to craft lies. Heil Drumpf!

Fair enough, I can't actually find anything to support my position, it's just what was taught to me a while back so I'll defer to you on this one.
For full transparency, I also might be wrong! I'm basically basing my responses on interviews I've seen on TV, mostly on news programmes but also talk shows. And The West Wing! It's possible that my evidence is anecdotal rather than anything written or defined.

If only your reply had been logical, forensic and succinct.

Oh....hang on..... it was!

Come on @lasvegan. It is OK to say you are prepared to put up with all Trump's "idiosyncracies" because there is some expectation that his policies will benefit you personally more than the opposition's will. Keep the narrative simple and let all the outraged altruists (like me) stew in our juices.

It is also understandable to have a prejudicial preference for Trump. This is exactly the same as having a belief in God, and a preference to interpret the scriptures literally. I think it's weird but it is still also OK.

But it is a mistake to attempt to defend your position to all comers with an attempt at reasoning and logic. Why bother? It's preaching. It's like Christian Scientists. That's where understandable perceptions of self interest, or harmless prejudice or religious belief morph into cultism.

The wider world, science, economics, humanity, can't be mapped to prejudice and belief.

And if you try to defend your position using the language of science, economics and humanity, you will find it a very difficult sell.
