Albion U-18s end their season with a 6-2 victory at Norwich City, scoring five in the first half including a hat-trick from Sahil Bashir. Joe Belmont scored twice and later hit the post with a penalty. Sub Layth Gulzar completed the scoring. Five victories to end the season during which they scored 18 goals and netted six away from home twice.

Scholar contract update:
Of the eleven 1st-year scholars who started last season (2022-23), we know that five have so far signed professional contracts with Albion:
Zane Albarus
Sahil Bashir
Joe Knight
Remiero Moulton
Charlie Penman
Given that right-back Harry Lee has recently been trialing with QPR, I think we can assume he is being released.
Harry Mills, Charlie Tasker and Yussif Owusu were all included in the recent U-21s trip to France to play two friendlies so it would seem they will be offered pro contracts (if they haven't already signed).
That leaves goalkeeper Lorenz Ferdinand and Jaydon Fuller (who has only made four substitute appearances for the U-18s this season due to injury). It is possible that Fuller might have his scholarship extended into a third year; we await to find out if Ferdinand is (or already has been) offered a professional contract.

I posted about him on here 3 months ago. He was called up to the US Men's U-17 National Youth Team for a training camp in Florida back in March.

Now that the Premier League has published their retained and released lists, we can update the situation with the second-year scholars (nothing from the club, of course).
The only scholar who has been released is the unfortunate Jaydon Fuller (I thought he would be given a third year due to the time missed through injury, but not to be).
However, a number of the other scholars HAVE been given a third scholar year: goalkeeper Lorenz Ferdinand, Harry Lee (so not released, yet at least) and Yussif Owusu. Only Ferdinand will be eligible to play for the U-18s again in 2024-25 so the others will have to fight for time in the U-21s or, as in the case of Bailey Smith this season who spent the first half of the season at Worthing, try to get game time out on loan somewhere.
Our two future Graham Potters, Harry Mills and Charlie Tasker, have earned their first professional contracts - many congratulations to them both.
Big move - long way! Good luck!
(Now fully expecting AZGull to tell me he's from the USA anyway!)

Bizarrely, Albion have reported today that Charlie Penman and Sahil Bashir have signed their first professional contracts with the club - Bashir And Penman Sign First Professional Contracts
Why bizarre? Well, they both signed their first professional contracts with the club one year ago (as evidenced by the FA Agents Transactions Report and the PL Retained List published last month). Oh, and by Charlie himself, on twitter!
