Sorry but that is just plain twaddle and you know it. Making a reasonable profit is every traders right. They can develop a business but you can be socially responsible and successful at the same time. you can also be exploitative and a failure too. They are not mutually exclusive.

As for leaving more room - I suspect it would be taken up by those horrible foreigners that want to come to the uk.

No it is not it is the plain truth you cannot accept.

Still horrible foreigners would suit me far better than those that whinge about their country.

No. Initially Thatcher's policy was to allow current council, tenants to buy the homes they occupied with cheap mortgages.

It was the next 'lot' in the late 90's that allowed the private equity companies to get involved.

But if you sell off a finite number of a stock and you dont allow the owners of that stock to replenish then those that need to use the product will need to go elsewhere for it. That's just a simple rule of trade and business. So with less available council properties and more people needing to rent property then it will fall to the private sector to supply it and they did. It's nothing to do with the late 90's it's to do with the late 80's.

Yes they can just needs the belief and acumen to make money.

Alright Mr Gecko! Unfortunately it's this blinkered, short sighted and dare I say it, ooh I do, ignorant train of thought that people resent Thatcher for.

a Union leader hell bent on socialism chose to use the whole event to promote his political beliefs

Just as Thatcher hell bent on Capitalism chose to use the whole event to promote her political beliefs. What is the difference here?

I can see your point. Sort of. But at the time it did change the face of society and allowed those who earned a lower wage and had no savings to have a goal to work towards. That being the property they owned.

Anyway its the 07.37 Preston Park for me in the morning. Might see ya:wink:

Jesus you are so defensive it frightens, justify this justify that............

You hate success unless it is socially adjusted to your view on what is fair.

That is the problem you have us that you have your own view on what are the scales of profit and loss and what people should make.

Miles out of tune for a market economy run in the UK.

This thread reminds me why I am something of a centrist politically now.

I'll be on the 6.37 - you see I hate this country so much apparently and I'm so scared of hard work and success.

The belief in what is best for the country and an upstart taking on the leader who thankfully failed.
