It was red all day long.
No intention, but a definite red IMO.
How can you say that’s a red?
Players go for over head kicks quite regularly and accidentally kick defenders, don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone sent off for it? Besides, if the referee decides it’s a yellow and has to watch is 20+ times before he decides it’s a red, why is he changing his decision?
This, the only issue is whether the Preston game counts as 1 of them.3 for dangerous tackles/violent conduct, unless he wins an appeal, which he might to be fair.

Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury.
A scissors or bicycle kick is permissible provided that it is not dangerous to an opponent.
