IMHO Warung Tajuh is the best. Yes it's technically indoesian not Thai but the same kettle of fish.

Street Thai in the lanes is very good
It's opposite Rounder Records

I thought it was average, my Mrs absolutely hates it and she is a bit of a connoisseur of Asian food. I would recommend Warung Tujuh in Pool Valley which although Indonesian is similar enough to Thai.

The posh bit
Tookta cafe spring street.

Tooka is lively and so welcoming

Very small and amazing food

A hidden gem!

I know it's not around the Lanes but my friend has just opened Koh Samui in Boundary Road, Portslade. They have a small eat in part and mainly do takeaways but the food is reasonable cheap and excellent and the chef is a genuine Thai and she is from Koh Samui!

I know its not near the lanes but UniThai on Church road does some really nice Thai food. A Thai friend of mine used to go there all the time. It's not really a restaurant though, it has about 4/5 tables out the back of the shop.

The St James pub does excellent food, plus the Office pub in the lanes

Yes, was just going post that - The thai food in St James's tavern, St James St, is very good. The chances of encountering lady boys is probably higher in that part of town, too...

My sons friend and his wife Tan runs Koh Samui in Station Road, Portslade. Try her Panang Curry and Moo Lab (minced pork) both excellent Thai dishes. Better still go to Thailand and have some street food.

Another vote for Street Thai from me but what ever you do steer well clear of The Giggling Squid - absolutely shocking place.

Yep as piersa and One Love say, it's got to be Sabai. Never had a bad meal in there and I've been a LOT of times.

Where is Warung Tajuh? I'd like to try it. Love Indonesian food.
