This is a tough selection, but we do need Kayal-Stephens-Sidwell in the middle.

Not baffling when you consider that the sports science is that players suffer a ~20% drop in performance when playing Saturday then Tuesday.

Luckily Hull will have the same issue, but Cardiff on Saturday will not, so we'll be switching the squad around where we can over the next 3 games.

So it's rotation, and a balance struck between those playing well and those with the highest energy levels.

So you are rotating out an in for players, who has scored in the last two - people would go rightly mental if Hughton did that and we lost 1 nil.

Not to mention how demotivated Murphy would be when dropped.

Although setting up for 4-5-1 sounds good and try and Nick a point, if you go up there and try to win this, it'd be a massive team boost and put us in a great position for an automatic position. I'd take the chance and play to win the game. If we loose, so be it, we're pretty much nailed on for a playoff spot anyway so just go for it I say and play 4-4-2

I am also generally in the 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' camp, but now that we've got another top quality CM in Steve Sidwell, I can see the logic of shifting to 4-5-1/4-3-3, at least for away matches against strong opposition.
I think I would do it if it were my decision - happily I'm able to leave that decision to CH! He's actually got choices to make now, after our successful transfer window,

Murphy back in rotation for Cardiff.

I wouldn't have said this a fortnight ago but, unless he's picked up an injury or is running on reserve energy levels (and he hasn't shown any signs of waning), I don't think you can drop Murphy, not just because of his form, but also the protection that he'll provide on our left, which is even more crucial not just because Calde will in all likelihood be starting, but because Hull have Odubajo (sp?), El Mohamedy (sp?) and Snodgrass who play down their right.

I do think 2 wingers away against hull is a luxury. Similar to Middlesborough when a point would have been outstanding and in hindsight should have kept it tight for first half hour

Hull's last home game. https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/959188/Live/England-Championship-2015-2016-Hull-Charlton 4-4-1-1.

Their team looks quite strong with only Dawson missing from their first choice XI.

Derby caused them problems when they were missing a proper left back. Now Robertson is back, so they do not have a recognisable weaknesses.

https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/214

They look a much more formidable team than Derby in the play-offs.

I think I would like a third player in midfield and only one winger ???

I would start Lualua in a central position behind our target striker.

Easier said than done of course but Hernandez is the serious threat and stopping him is crucial. Snodgrass and Clucas will cause problems ( our midfield should be better than theirs though) after that Hull are nothing really special. Diame divides opinion amongst City fans as does who to put in at CB...McGuire or Dawson. Chris Hughton will set us up properly for this one I'm sure

I'm not suggesting you've made up that bullshit, but someone has.
