FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Fair enough if managers opinion differs from mine and considers Milner is part of strongest midfield. However hope manager doesnt ger caught up in helping Milner overtake Gareth Barry.
i dont think its that, more that perhaps we are a very young experienced side.

How is ACD not getting in the squad? (Although I agree with you).
Probably more likely to make it than O Mahony but coach might prefer having another out and out CF.
But yep. Something will have to give - we have a very strong attacking line up - with Gruda on the way too.

I’ve a theory about pace. The more central you are, the less it matters.

Being the slowest player in the EPL didn’t stop Groß smashing into the host nation’s Euro squad for his first international tournament.

Milner could well have the finest football brain at the club now. I suspect it’ll be put to good use.
Milner also has an incredible engine, much like Gross. In his years at Liverpool Klopp occasionally did a drill where the players ran continually round the training ground at a decent pace until there was only one player willing and able to keep running. Milner always won it.

With all respect, how fast Milner once was, or how much stamina Milner once had, are utterly irrelevant.

Much more interesting is to ponder what our first line up after the international break might be, then look at the strength of the bench for that (Clearly this is touching wood for no injuries)

The next few days will make this much clearer

Steele
Veltman - Dunk - JPV - Barco
Minteh - Gilmour - Wieffer - Mitoma
Pedro - Welbeck
I'm prepared to believe Gilmour might stay. I'm not prepared to believe he'll start our first game not having featured in the warm ups

Apparently Coleman or Young will be starting at right back for them which has improved my optimism for the match. Mitoma’s looked sharp in pre season so we need to get the ball out to him as much as possible.

Tough away game Cant see Mitoma Pedro Welbeck and Minteh doing much defending and Barco seems to prefer attacking to defending. Hope it is not Dunk covering out wide for Barco as we know what can happen. Great admiration for all out attack but like last 2 seasons better for my nerves for whole season when we get early points in the bag

You've nailed the weakness in Dunk's game that few of NSC see IMO. Defending wide areas.
