ps This 60ish person loves Taylor Swift and still loves Clash. I’m not sure I would have loved TS back in the late 70s early 80s though when I was a hard rock/punk lover. 😎

In August we’ll be heading to Vienna to watch Taylor Swift, then later in the month we’ll be at Doomsday Fest in Brighton watching the likes of Hellripper and Foetal Juice,

I’d have bought a ticket just to watch her perform that one song. I often watch this …

Just listened to that. A couple of posters on this thread will know that’s the first Taylor Swift song that I’ve knowingly heard.

I thought it was excellent.

She is an incredily talented lady. Supposedly about Jake Gylenhaal with she was 20 and he was 30 " but maybe this thing was a masterpiece so you tore it all up " Killer line

Masterpiece aside, I find it odd that she wrote a 10 minute song about a guy she dated for 3 months.

I think if a male artist did the same with the same context they’d be called creepy. I also think the girl who he wrote the song about wouldn’t be harassed online by the Swifties sending red scarf emoji’s.

Timelines have no limits for when you fall in love 1 day 10 years especially at 20. A cathartic episode for her and powerful. I was dumped at 20 and it took me 6 months to get over it

She’s written at least 10 songs about ex bf’s, just came out of a 6 year relationship, and she’s 34. That seems excessive.

Well yes but it’s writing for an audience. The teenage girls lap this stuff up, in their “deep” and “emotional” phase.

I should add that 10 separate ex bf’s. If its songs inspired by ex bf’s it got to be 30+ songs

I’m surprised Barry Styles and the rest of them haven’t got restraining orders out against her.

On her current album she’s also written a song about people who have your attitude to her love life ! :lolol:

Do you hold opinions about other artists and how many songs they write about certain subjects?

Commenting on this seems a bit weird to me.

Yep, she has successfully figured out what her audience like and provides it. Part of this is to also include the subject matter of the song, not many other artists do that so frequently.

😂 that’s very true!

I’m not anti Taylor Swift by any means. In fact I’ve taken my daughters to see her in the US a number of times on various tours and have tickets for Wembley in August.

Taylor is an incredible song writer, but I take her music for what it is, to please the mass commercial market.

She clearly makes it easy to figure out what ex-bf it is about because it add to the popularity and sells more records.

Anyone off to Wembley tomorrow for Taylor swift?
Is NSC really going to get into a discussion about Taylor bleeding Swift??..... I thought this board was for crusty old Boomer/Gen x-ers and all things Albion, not a board for teeny twinks and their facination with a sparkly clad Barbie doll from across the pond.

Take German happy hardcore music band Scooter. They sing constantly about respecting the man in the ice cream van and Scooter are you ready.

I don’t get the need for it on every song.

Are you one of the swifties that troll her ex’s on Twitter?

That's just sing to numbers though isn't it? That's not a real artist. A bit like Damien Hirst who only does commissions these days.

Aside from that, I get why she is popular but I'm surprised by how many people like her on here. Most of the songs are surely written for teen girls !
