It now costs a touch under £60 to fill up my humble steed with petrol/gas/fuel.

How much does it cost you? How big is your TANK?

In France last week.... 60 litres of Gazoil at 1.05 EUROs a litre... 63 EUROs, which is about £43

In San Sebastien (on a day trip to Sunny Spain)... it was only 0.95 EUROs per litre.

Local garage in UK... diesel is now 96p a litre... making a tankful £57.60 !

Gordon Brown has a lot to answer for

in Egypt couple of weeks ago and think it was 19p a litre, sure they've probably got better relations with saudi than us though just shows how much we're paying in tax

UK unleaded 95 petrol pump price composition (average major brand price for July 2005)

Pump price 88.60p/l
Duty & VAT 60.30p/l (68%)
Petrol cost(spot price) 24.56p/l (27.5%)
Gross retail margin 3.74p/l (4.5%)

Gross retail margin is the difference between the buying and selling price of petrol. The amount available has to cover all the costs of storage & transportation from a refinery, the running of a filling station and profit of the retailer.

£65 to fill my beast, although our petrol is about 5p per litre dearer than UK.

There again it costs me nothing as it is all booked to work

I've no idea as I've never filled it up. £20 gets just over 3/4 full, which gets me about 230 miles. When I passed my test (which was only 4 years ago), it didn't cost me £20 to fill my chariot right up.

Fiesta 1.1LX. The ultimate was my clapped out G reg Nova, which once managed 146 miles on a tenner, before coming to an embarrassing halt whilst going to work one evening.
