We’ve lost out on players to Villa & West Ham in the last 12 -18 months due to not matching wages so this would certainly be the case once more with Abraham.

What is the ‘Paul Ince clause' you have written it as we are all in the know.

It's a clause that says the player will always get the same as the top wage earner. If a new player gets signed and earns more money, then the player with the 'Paul Ince clause' money goes up accordingly. Can you really see someone with TB's business acumen negotiating that for Dunk :dunce:

I believe it to be (with possibly very few exceptions) one of the great Urban myths of footballer's contracts, together with player swap deals and 'pay as you play' contracts.

I think Abraham would be an attractive signing for the majority of sides who will be playing European football next season, and I would be amazed if he settles for anything less.

I expect we will go for a value striker from South America.

We've scored more goals than a quarter of the teams in the division, including Wolves, and only 13 teams have scored more than us. You are the joke.

I was really impressed with that stat!

Then I realised that it meant only 5 teams :(

We'll be shopping in France, that's where the bargains are because the French clubs are skint.
They have no income from TV, and most clubs are struggling to service their debt.

I would suggest that Carlos Vinicius may be a more realistic target. Spurs not going to make his loan permanent. Would cost, but likely 60% of Abraham.

He could have said any number of teams and you'd still say its bad, because you want it to be.

The right answer on only the second post!

I suspect he is already on more than our highest earner. We’ll not be breaking our salary structure for this lad, especially after the rumoured required £1m sweetener to a family member when we tried to get him on loan.

Whilst Chelsea have a history of letting top world class talent saunter out the club in the cheap, the recruitment will be after someone of equal quality but for half the salary and transfer fee.

Cmon , Lamptey , work your magic .Persuade him !

Nice idea but sadly it will only be cold hard cash that will persuade him. It does beg the question as to how we managed to get Lamptey? Were Chelsea resolute in feeling that Lamptey would never be good enough for the first team or worst case scenario did they know his hamstrings were going to long term problematical? :(
