Surprised Eric Huskelepp hasn't been snapped up to be honest - bit of a Will Buckley type player if not quite as pacy. I saw him play for Birmingham on loan at the end of last season and he looked quite useful. I'm sure someone is tracking him and holding back to get him as cheap as they can but yes, at a time last year when they knew they were in deep doo doo they splashed over a million quid on him, except............... wait for it .................................................my understanding is that they still owe Bari most of the fee!

Quote from Birch Yesterday:

""That is scandalous because the people who put us in this mess are still clinging to the wreckage and claiming millions of pounds off the club."

That statement apart from ignoring the obvious, as to who is really at fault, is the sign of somebody who is either losing the plot in frustration or is turning up the propaganda heat on the players to tarnish them as the real bad guys is the hope they will capitulate.

This disgusting excuse of a football club should be put out its misery & let go. If Birch & Portpin get their way, the saga will just drag on until the inevitable happens months/a year down the line.

Balram Chainrai will surely have to pass the so called 'fit & proper person test'? I await the Football League/FA statement with interest if Birch gets his way.......

From the Mail:

Ben Haim urges Portsmouth to foot bill as crisis club face liquidation
By Neil Ashton

Tal Ben Haim's pay dispute with Portsmouth took an ugly twist on Monday when he told the administrators to cut their fees if they want the club to survive.
Ben Haim, who has a contract worth £36,000 a week and a separate image rights agreement worth £1million a year, claims he is willing to reach a settlement over his contract.

But the defender also demanded that administrator Trevor Birch's firm, PKF, should write off the £650,000 it is owed.

Birch went public by telling Portsmouth's supporters that he will liquidate the club in two weeks unless the high-earning players reach a settlement on their contracts.

Ben Haim said: 'The administrator has to cut his fees. I have lost £2.5m net and I am prepared to lose more.

'I signed a contract in good faith and I want to help the club survive, but the administrator has to talk to us.'

Birch confirmed that he will be forced to close the League One club for ever unless the players accept a series of proposals aimed at saving them from oblivion.

Their first fixture of the season is scheduled to be a Capital One Cup tie against Plymouth on August 14, but time is running out for Birch to save the club.

Members of SOS Pompey were at the club's Eastleigh training ground yesterday to hand the players a letter pleading for them to accept the administrator's latest offer.

Ben Haim refused to read or accept it, but David Norris, Greg Halford and Erik Huseklepp accepted the communication and striker Dave Kitson later apologised to fans after claiming he originally mistook them for journalists.

Part of the letter said: 'You can save this club that so many of us care about, you can demonstrate that footballers aren't the shallow, selfish people that is portrayed in the press.

'We know that the potential sacrifice we are asking you to make is immense, but we will not survive without it.'

The Football League have already ruled that Pompey will start next season with a 10-point penalty, but Birch has warned that they are unlikely to even fulfil their first fixture.

He said: 'The truth is that the club is fighting for its life. The club is heading for liquidation in just a few weeks, perhaps two weeks if these players don't leave or compromise on their wages.'
