The trouble is the FA is an organisation (just like the BBC) that talks a good game on racial injustice and sexism in the game and then they make a decision like getting into bed with U.K. rap stars Krept and Konan for the 2020 official England anthem. Here’s an extract from Goat Level.

If you think the FA has the moral authority to preach from the pulpit about racial discrimination whilst at the same time sponsoring the likes K&K to represent the England team’s 2020 anthem you must be mad.

Very much this, the BLM riots in London and other towns and Cities have done nothing to help the cause, why the need to desecrate war memorials? Why the need to fire flare guns at police horses?
As I stated at the beginning of the thread, if players insist on kneeling to this thuggery next season, I shall not boo, I shall simply take my seat after the whole episode has passed, about 5 seconds they’re on their knees for…

It’s all very well GS and the FA saying by taking the knee they are not political or connected to BLM, the reality on the ground is the interpretational lines on the knee were not drawn in the run up to the euros, they were drawn in May and June last year.

If the England team came out the tunnel today and did anything else as a gesture to support the broader cause against racism they would be cheered from the rafters at Wembley and across England. The fact that they are sticking their heels in just makes it look like it’s the knee or nothing. It’s madness really, the FA’s PR team should be sacked.

So really it's a matter of interpretation...

Trouble is that interpretation is broadly along political lines and people's stance on this is generally predictable.

Once again, I am sure there are hidden agendas on both sides of the divide - and for some it is the political perspective that dictates how they respond, in spite of Southgate reassuring the public that the team gesture is first, last and only about racial inequality.

For many reasons this is a deeply divided country and as far as I can see reaction to 'the knee' showcases those divisions; but I don't think it caused them.

There are approx 5.5m Asian British people in this country and approx 1.9m Black or Black British people. How many Asian players, managers, coaches and officials are there compared to the Black community. You talk to any young Asian and he/she will tell you of the near impossibilty of even getting started on the ladder.

If you're a big advocate of free speech why don't you respect the England teams right to freedom of expression? If you believe you should be allowed to say what you like regardless of what anyone thinks that should apply to everyone. Using your rules, The England team should be allowed to take the knee and not give a stuff what you think
