Fair enough, think Mr McCain has made himself totally irrelevant on the question of Syria this week though, his 'plan' to make any action wider, actually region wide does not even have support of Cheney and his merry men.
Obama is not going to get the support of the House but may have to go anyway. Heard several reports last night there may have been another chemical attack on a rebel held area. All gone quiet on that front now though.
As i stated last week Martyn, when you wanted to go straight in and sort out the Syrian government, we don't know the full truth.

Did you count them? I am honestly looking at the evidence that has been made public so far from US, Britain, France, Russia, China and the UN and for me I don't see anything that points the rebels being involved in this attack and if nothing is done I can see Assad doing it again and even worse. Having said that the thought of doing anything to help AQ and the thought of Israel taking advantage and attacking Iran for it's own reasons scares the hell out of me.

Also I do have a great interest in American politics from the start to current day, something I like to study
But you don't mind seeing our troops being sent into another war thousands of miles away to side with rebels who were blowing our lads/lassies up in Afghanistan.
You don't mind seeing billions being spent fighting in an area that does not want peace, has been killing it's own for centuries, and will move onto another middle eastern country when this spat is over.

I am going to say this once more as I am sure I have said it several times before in my 100 posts on this thread. There is not going to be another war, and we will not be fighting on the rebels side.
I do want to stop innocent people being gassed in their homes and schools, if you can come up with another way to do that without damaging Assads ability to use these weapons please tell me and I will forward it on to the international community.
We are spending millions now dealing with the refugees on the border and in the surrounding countries so money is not really the point is it.
Wars cost Billions not millions.
Your stance seems to have changed/tempered since your opening posts, i was pretty sure you wanted our government to strike asap against the Syrian government.

This will not be a war, did I not just say that? Please show me a post when I said anything but I think the Assad regime did it, I think they will do it again if we do not reduce their ability to do it again. I want very few boots on the ground, just the specialists that are already there marking targets and gaining intelligence, not any kind of invasion.
I want military action even smaller than what was done in Libya, even one attack could do the job if carefully planned. I just want Assad to stop using these weapons, he has even worse stuff and I can see him using if he is not stopped.

I think this point is telling (and good on you for sticking to it). This for me will determine the motives of those wishing to get involved. This will show whether any military action is for peace keeping or for agression.
The UN and any intervention in Syria (or anywhere else forthat matter) should be about peace keeping and protecting innocents. Somewhere down the line this retoric seems to have been replaced by a desire to take sides and medel in politics.
