Disppointing end to the season. Based in NW Kent, at one stage it looked possible for me to have Palace, Millwall, Charlton, Orient and Gillingham to go to next season. Now I'm just left with Charlton and Orient.

I was wondering why Swindon were wearing a white and blue kit today, despite the fact that Millwall were in all-blue, therefore there was no reason why Swindon couldn't have worn their usual red strip. Not surprisingly, they had a few complaints from their fans about the decision.

Danny Wilson's reasoning was apparently not that it was a superstition issue, but "because it's going to be a hot day, and the team will need to keep their cool as much as possible. I think wearing white is what everybody would say will help us".

It's been predicted with a degree of certainty all week that the weather today was likely to be crap, so I have no idea where Wilson got that from. Are Swindon folk still relying on seaweed and the position of the local cows for their weather forecasts? So now their players are probably cold, wet AND gutted. Brilliant decision, Danny :dunce:

He probably used the BBC website for his weather forecast.

They said on 5 Live that Swindon have a home and an away sponsor. The away sponsor were willing to pay more hence away kit. Do not know how true that is but that is what they said.

Maybe that was the excuse to hide the obvious money angle from fans then?

LOoking at the photos on the BBC site, they appear to have EA Sports on their white kit, and FourFourTwo on the home. Money does indeed talk.

I suspect EA may have a bit more money than FourFourTwo so it sounds quite likely. They are both cool sponsors though, definately better than Its Tits.

Always amazed me as to why a national football mag like Four Four Two should choose to sponsor a nondescript team like Swindon when I am sure that there are many more fashionable teams to sponsor, disregarding the Premier big guns.

Because they want interesting things to write about, ups as well as downs, not just another footballer-driving-a-Ferrari background story. It was a chance for them to give an insight into lower league football. Plus they'd probably have more influence at Swindon than they would at Newcastle United. As it is, FourFourTwo are sponsoring some kind of find-a-star contest whereby entrants (who aren't currently playing professionally) have the chance to win a year's contract with the club. Can't see a top Championship side doing that.

we didnt turn up today, real shame but cant be too disapointed as we have had a brilliant season, shame about the austin bobble. millwall were physically stronger and quicker than us, they deserved it

I only have 2 gripes.....

First the referee and bookings, millwall should have had at least 2 players booked before lescinel was booked, why the f*** harris wasnt booked for kicking the shit out of lucas i dont know?

Secondly, our support was f***ing shit today. normally when we take a big away following like to st marys or elland road we are f***ing loud and raucous and get behind the team, suppose when you average just over 8000 at home and 33000 turn up for wembley you hope the daytrippers would get behind the team, today they didnt, there was only about 50 in our block f***ing singing. Disapointing.

Plus points....

We might finally get to play the scum in the paint pot cup now they have managed to clamber out the plumbers and electricians league on their 4th or 5th attempt.

oh and i have to go to f***ing withdean one more time!!!!

See you next season, mr Moonraker. :)

Selfish reasons, but I'm glad Swindon haven't gone up. Sorry for a friend reduced to tears, but, well, meh.

Under your skin.
Interesting to note that Morison got plenty of stick from Millwall fans during the first two or three months of the season, because they thought, based on a few appearances, that he wasn't good enough for League One having come up from non-league.

:lolol::lolol: Hmmmm?

I was there today, and from a neutral perspective I'd agree with the Swindon fan, they didn't turn up in the first half at all, and the support was terrible. At least the extra 25,000 Millwall fans seemed to know what to sing and what was expected of them (fairly simple to be fair, a chorus of 'No one likes us' every few minutes). The Swindon newbies acted like they had never been to a football match.

Oh, and a little one for Albion fans. In the programme there was a three-page spread devoted to a referee's assessor. You know him. He once handed Palace four penalties. Take a bow, Mr Kelvin Morton. Strangely there was no mention in the piece of his world record Selhurst Park effort. PS, I forgot. In the picture he is wearing a RED AND BLUE tie. I always knew it was a dodgy match.
