Swindon and Wycombe All Ticket - Err why?

I understand why they have the policies, and I understand why they were introduced in the first place, I didn't qualify for a West Hamticket a few years ago which was annoying, it was West Ham.. I can understand and applaud the attempts to give proper fans the priority over the casuals in that instance. My annoyance is as much the fact it's such a low priority game, as it is that this is the first match I'm actually able to attend since the Orient JPT game, which seems like years ago now. It's the one match that really does mean a lot, it's an important game personally, and to then find out I don't qualify for a ticket to go and see it.. that's quite annoying. Whatever people may think of me, I'm sure you can understand why I'd be rather peeved at this.

Also, I can't think of a single "all ticket" away match where you've been able to buy tickets on the day. People keep saying it'll be possible, but I've never known of it.

When the ticket details for any away game come out invariably its all ticket. Any unsold are then sent back to the club to be sold on the day. These tickets have to then be purchased from the respective clubs ticket office not the turnstile which effectively still makes the game all ticket. It happened at Brentford, Southampton, Norwich....the list goes on.

OK, sorry - that was a bit harsh!

I just get a bit irritated when this moan comes round again and again and again.

Yes it's crap that we have to pay just for the right to buy a ticket but the club put the scheme in place YEARS ago and people should be used to it by now.

There is an argument for making it free to anyone who can show they are a regular supporter (but not a STH who are in the scheme anyway).

Maybe the club should say that if anyone can show them, say 10 ticket stubs from home games, they will be put in the away scheme automatically.

The fact that it comes around time and again means that it is wrong and outdated and just unnecessary bureaucracy, they could sell the tickets online to anyone on their data base without their having to join membership schemes, with all the additional hassle and paperwork that involves, if you need to prioritise a game, which quite clearly for swindon and Wycombe you do not, just set a level of games attended over 1, 2, 3 seasons or what ever and go from there on any tickets that remain, if the old bill want some indication of numbers surely all they have to do is stipulate an online cut off time for purchase ie 24/ 48 hrs before kick off

That's interesting information, unfortunately I've not been able to go to any of these ( ), so didn't know. There is an away ticket office at the County Ground, so I see no reason why unsold tickets can't go on general sale on the day anyway, but in the past couple of seasons the policy for this game has been the we get an advanced number of tickets but you can pay on the day aswell. If the unsold tickets are going to be available to purchase at the ground, surely that message should be included in the ticket information post on the main website?

Midikilledmydog - I agree completely. Anyone on the clubs database should be able to buy tickets, they can see all sorts on that database, so they can tell how many you've been to and whatnot. Again, I'm not opposed to the priority schemes for the bigger matches where there is alot of interest and there needs to be a priority system for certain people, but not for games like Swindon and Wycombe.

Agreed 100%.
This is going to be a repeat of the Southampton fiasco.
(Fiasco being, no-one knew when or where they could get tickets from, loads of people not wanting to pay £10 membership, not knowing how many tickets would be left on the gate etc)

It DOES usually state that any unsold tickets will be returned to the club and sold on the day but clearly on this occasion that has not been the case. Simple solution would be to ring the ticket office tommorow mate and mind out what the score is.

I've sent a message to Paul to put a few questions and suggestions to him, and I shall be contacting the ticket office tomorrow (hoping the Scotsman shall be in there, of course!) to see exactly where I stand and see what they advise. I've no doubts there'll be a simple conclusion to all this, but I would hope people can understand why I'd be so annoyed at potentially being denied seeing this game.

I spent a week in Gardenstowne last year in the house above where this photo was taken. It must have been your car I saw parked on the sea front with a Brghton badge in it!

You're not exactly being denied seeing the game, you are being charged an additional £10 to see it.

As I mentioned on the other thread, it's only £14 to go in the town end, so if you're being a pikey that's always an option on the day (assuming you're not wearing colours). That way you could sit with your lady friend from Swindon.

The £10 charge would be fair enough for a game with high demand, and it would be a ridiculous argument on my behalf if we were such a game. But we're not talking Southampton here, we're talking Swindon and Wycombe. Relatively, that £10 is uncalled for. And would be a right pain in the carsey, considering.

She sits in the Arkells, at the Town End, end. We've already spoken about the "all ticket" nonsense in the Brighton end and there is the option of sitting with her (plus dad... ) in the Swindon end. But, contrary to popular belief, I have no interest (Well, not quite NO interest, but you get the sentiment) of doing that because I will be shouting myself HOARSE during the game. I'd rather not have to watch my tongue and celebrations when we score. But the option is there. Another option is going in the Swindon end, and then flashing the stripes (I will absolutely be wearing colours!) to get myself moved to the away end! Or ejection... Bad plan.

Like the last £10 payment that was for life?

Fair enough, but if the scheme has a shelf life of 3 years (likely to be 5+, but I'm being pessimistic) that's a grand total of £3.33 per season. Hardly going to break the bank, is it?

I'm sorry NE, but I don't understand your argument at all. You aren't being charged £10 to get a ticket for Swindon, you are being charged £10 to join a scheme which allows you to buy tickets for any away game in advance. As others have said, there has been an AMS in one form or another for YEARS now, you really should be used to it. Games are becoming more and more about having tickets in advance (such as at Withdean and the new stadium), so I'm afraid ultimately you are going to be forced to adapt, one way or another.

Why not just get one of your mates who has a gold, blue or white membership to get you a ticket ???

In a pile of football shirts
I wonder how many other clubs do such a thing.

Think you'll find plenty do have schemes, some where you pay, some where you have to have stubs from past matches, others with waiting lists to be allowed to join the membership. At Man United it's £30 per year! whereas ours is £10 for a one off payment. In this instance, Wiltshire police have required the game is all ticket, so why do you have a problem with the club and the scheme, it isn't their fault.

Yes, but Man Utd sell out everywhere they go.

I am a white member and had no problem paying the £10 to get priority tickets incase we sell out. Just seems pointless to refuse someone a ticket for a game we won't sell out, because they haven't signed up.

like poidy said it will state on the bha website if any unsold tickets will be given back to the home club to sell on the day,in the instance of swindon this is not the case and it sounds like that is down to the police. pay on day means no details are given etc so anyone can go and sometimes cause trouble..and there has been trouble at swindon on at least 3 occasions since the play offs!!
if you want to go swindon, you pay the £10 membership, they wont sell on the day!

Stunning little village Gardenstowne a bit of a shock to the system though- no phone signal, internet access or sky sports in the pub!

Enjoy the match.

The fiasco where everyone knew unsold tickets were sent back to Southampton? The one where there was a ticket office at the away end selling these tickets with barely a queue? If that was a fiasco there must be some major league disasters in your everyday life.
