Oh, sorry, I thought that if you bought tickets for home games you automaticaly qualified as a blue or white member. Out of interest, if that is not the case then why don't you get a membership? Again, it's not unusual at English football league clubs. And it certainly won't get any less common in the years to come. Sadly if we have some wanker fans who have to behave like imbeciles then this scenario will continue, might as well just get a membership.

No, you have to pay for the "priviledge" of joining such a scheme. I don't see the point in paying an extra tenner to qualify for a match ticket, which I shouldn't have to qualify for, and NOONE should. If they're going to make it all ticket, by all means have a first come first served policy for the membership schemes, but there should be a period of time that non-membership fans can get their tickets aswell. It's not like we're playing a big team away, we're playing Swindon Town. With respect, that should be considered.

You'll be able to get tickets for both games on the day.

Why would any football club refuse a paying customer?

Is the truth. No need to get your knickers in a twist over this.

Also who is this Noone character and why does NE think he should be paying a membership fee?

I think ther eis a degree of miss-understanding here about ticketing procedures, which includes me, I didn't think you had to pay for a memebership, but if you do, what of it? If gets you the chance to buy a ticket, where without it you can't, seems like a deal to me. If you don't buy petrol, insurance or tax, your car won't get you there either. Perhaps I'm not old enough to remember a time when everything was so much simpler.

So, we should be charged for the priviledge of buying tickets for Swindon away? If it were West Ham, or Tottenham..... then OBVIOUSLY, the scheme is fair enough because you have to limit numbers. But it's Swindon away, realistically, and there is no need for this. As I suggested, have a priority period for the scheme members, and then have a period for the more casual fans who can't make every game.

There is no issue here, both will be pay on the gate in the end. The police at Swindon who have made it all ticket, won't want ticketless Albion fans wandering around so we will be able to buy tickets on the day. Chances are tickets will be available to non scheme members at some point too, they are normally.

Nothing to see here, no problem, no reason to moan, no reason to go on Ask The Club. Just tickets only available at the ticket office right now.

The away membership scheme has been in place since 2001.

Like it or not, you have to be in it to get an away ticket. It's the rules.

It's £10 which isn't actually a lot of money in the general scheme of things.

Get over it.

All ticket doesn't mean, "turn up on the day anyway and we'll let you in". That's not what it means, by deffinition. I don't think Swindon nor the Wiltshire police are the problem, it's the Albion for having the "Tickets are only available to gold, white or blue scheme members" page on the website.

Well said!

The tenner isnt just for one season, so you wont be paying it just for Swindon or Wycombe!!

So?

Why should anyone pay £10 for the right to go and see Brighton play Swindon? That's not on. My point is that for the big away games, that's fair enough. But not when it comes to Swindon when everyone can get a ticket anyway. Or, should be able to atleast.

Just pay the £30 to become a blue member and you wont need to worry about it full stop. Granted the question has been asked WHY this has to be the case. However, personally if it means i can guarentee a ticket for whatever away game i wish to attend without having this problem than its more than worth the outlay. If i recall rightly it wasnt too long ago that if you couldnt visit the club shop for a ticket you had to apply in writing for one. Complete pain in the arse if like me you dont live in Brighton.

Seriously though it does really. So many games claim to be all ticket and you can always get in on the day as long as it doesn't sell out. Which as you point out it won't. If not just borrow someones gold card, or ask someone for their seat details and get a ticket using their name. It is not difficult and certainly not worth moaning about on here.

f*** the rules, I just want to go and see a few football matches over christmas, without working out blue white and frigging purple membership schemes. I went to Swindon last year and paid on the gate and did similar in the fa cup at wycombe, ample space at both games and no problems, why does some f***ing jobs worth have to make an issue of it now

If it does have to be all ticket however, just sell the f***ing things like you do for home games

You're a bit dim aren't you.

The reason you have to pay is that there is a RULE in place that says in order to buy tickets for away games, you have to be in the AWAY membership scheme. It costs £10 to join.

Simple (for most people anyway).

If you don't like it, tough.

Why the personal insult, Hiney? Granted, it's only "dim", but it's really unneccessary.

My query is with the "rule". Why? Why do you need to be in some scheme to qualify for a ticket? I wonder how many other clubs do such a thing. As I said, if you're playing a big club in a priority match, then there's no arguments from me that anyone in a scheme deserves priority. I've actually said that in this case aswell, I have no opposition to a priority period. I'm just saying that it's not FAIR to say that anyone without being a member of the scheme doesn't have the right to go to the match. It's unjust. I have every right to go to that match, and so does everyone else.

As for not moaning about it on here, well, this is a fans forum. This is an issue directly involving the club, admittedly I'm the only person who seems to care and I'm probably the only person annoyed at not automatically qualifying to go to a game at Swindon, but for obvious reasons I do care about this match and I do want to go. Someone else said in this thread to borrow someone else's gold card, which is what I will be doing of course. I am getting a ticket, there's no way of stopping me.

But this is an issue which should be adressed by the club, in my opinion. Or atleast give it some thought. If it's not a priority match, why restrict who can buy tickets to go and see it?

Can London Pompy let us know how Peacehaven Pete and Uncle Monty intend getting round the restrictions on becoming blue and white members? Isn't Monty still serving the life ban he was given after the incident with the celery in 1996?

OK, sorry - that was a bit harsh!

I just get a bit irritated when this moan comes round again and again and again.

Yes it's crap that we have to pay just for the right to buy a ticket but the club put the scheme in place YEARS ago and people should be used to it by now.

There is an argument for making it free to anyone who can show they are a regular supporter (but not a STH who are in the scheme anyway).

Maybe the club should say that if anyone can show them, say 10 ticket stubs from home games, they will be put in the away scheme automatically.

Abort, retry, fail
You have answered your own query in the second paragraph. It is about priority. £10 is not much to someone that goes to plenty of away games. It could work out as less than 50p a game. £10 is a lot for one or two games, which will generally discourage those fans that attempt to buy an odd ticket for a 'big' tie.

Why dont you put your query in the 'Ask the Club' part of the forum. Im sure someone will clarify the reasoning behind the membership policy for you and more importantly whether unsold tickets will be available on the day. Although having said that they almost always are and i cant see Swindon and Wycombe being an exception to this rule.

Keep the Faith
