Oh I would love to go back. When you talk to a lot of the guys I work with in London who come from SA they say its unrecognisable ( granted I left 38 years ago so I hope it would have). I certainly would go back foir a holiday, but not to live...I am too long in the tooth to uproot anyway.

Are you thinking of going to the World Cup? If so try and get a trip to natal...the Garden Route from Cape Town all the way up to Durban was a brilliant holiday when we were there

I would love to see England play in the World Cup but with South Africa's bad press for violence I would be hesitant to go.

True, there are, however on this occasion and the tone of his original "humerous" remark aimed at my fellow Yorkshiremen, the reply was entirely justified.

However, hopefully he will read the list of honours and perhaps that will improve his knowledge of the game and its history.

No, it wasn't justified, it was well over the top considering the mildness of the post that provoked it. And don't talk to us about history, we're the oldest county club!

.... and you HAVE won f*** all since the last Ice Age. :p

Sorry I dont normally comment on ill-informed shite, but this cannot be allowed to pass:

1113: And at Hove, Michael Yardy and Murray Goodwin are going steady for Sussex - they're 155-2, needing 39 more to make Yorkshire bat again. Both sides will be hoping for a Kent collapse that would make both sides safe from relegation.

1111: It's still foggy at Taunton where Lancashire are kicking their heels, but at Canterbury, Ryan McLaren has reached his fifty for Kent. He's been joined by Yasir Arafat - at 185-6, Kent are still 90 runs behind.

1127: Another wicket at Canterbury - and another wicket for Callum Thorp, who has all seven so far! His latest Kent victim is Yasir Arafat, who edges to Michael Di Venuto at second slip for 18. They're 197-7 - still 78 behind.

REPORT (September 2005): Warne fury over title conclusion

1122: Our first wicket fo the morning, as Sussex captain-elect Mike Yardy is caught by Andrew Gale off Adil Rashid for 72. They're 161-3, still trailing Yorkshire by 32.

I have a feeling that Kent have not announced an overseas player for next season. I would LOVE it, if we were able to entice Yasir back to The County Ground.

1132: Another wicket at Canterbury - and the boy Thorp can no longer take all 10 as James Tredwell shoulders arms and has his off stump demolished by Steve Harmison, clearly showing no ill-effects from the cracked bone in his non-bowling wrist. They're eight down.

I.e. Two wickets away from relegation.

Can we start feeling confident now.

I hope DtG is having better day today. I respect and understand his passion for his 'hometown' county, but I can't see him getting too much support on here.

It could be very exciting at the top...

1139: Mascarenhas declares with Hampshire on 449-5, leaving Notts needing to score 442 to win at nearly six an over to win the County Championship. But with Durham on the brink of victory at Canterbury, Notts are going to have to go for it...

I would like Durham to win it, personally.

SAFE!

A season to forget really with washouts galore. Sussex lost 14 days worth of cricket, which is effectively 14 three day games (probably a good thing with our weak squad). The same for many other teams.
