The Albion have given no explanation at all of why the Leeds fixture was moved.

Brighton and Hove Albion | News | Latest News | Latest News | Albion Fixture Changes

Leeds are saying that the fixture has been moved "at the request of the police". It hasn't. It's been moved at the insistence of Sussex University.

Leeds United | News | News | News | BRIGHTON TRIP MOVED TO FRIDAY

Inevitably, this has led to speculation about what caused the police to have concerns. All of that speculation could have been avoided if the Albion had explained the decision. They haven't. A poor show, in my opinion.

So because we haven't been told the actual reason by the Albion, and Leeds have told people it's a Police decision, the fault lies with the Albion for Leeds saying what they said? That might or might not be true. But I'm not going to make that assumption.

Are you sure about that? I had an e mail from them on 23 June which said they were extending the deadline to beyond 30th when you were meant to have paid the deposit. The new payment dates were staggered by the initial of your surname.

"3) No BHA Travel Management Plan published yet! Thus, we are extending the payment deadline.
Originally, when we set the payment deadline as the 30th June, we firmly believed that the Travel Management Plan would be released. Obvisously this is not the case however we do expect this to be released soon by the club!

We do respect the decision of those who are awaiting the release of this document before making their decision to travel with us.

With this in mind we have moved back the payment date to the following:

Surnames beginning:

A to H Thursday 7th July
etc,
etc"

So on what basis do you think Seagull Travel believe that the TMP will be published in time for 7th July?

"All you need are regular updates, a board that keeps you informed. They have got to have a look at how a supermarket would treat its customers, or a service industry. It's a service, football, a leisure service." - Paul Camillin, Build a Bonfire, page 220.

“The culture of the club and the closeness between the fans and the club will not change. Those characteristics are great. Maybe as we become a bigger organisation things will change, but if we have to be run it a little more professionally we don’t want to lose the relationship and the openness with the fans.”

Cameron has the balls to tackle public debt and privileged pensions the UK cannot afford. Labour-led report proved the latter point.

Did TV have an influence in this?
When Leeds were down 20 months ago on a Saturday, not a hint of trouble.
Do ALL Leeds away Saturday games to resorts or nightlife cities get moved away from the Saturday, to discourage them making a weekend of it?

I don't know the answers to these questions, but someone here might.

In response

Possibly

Try telling that to the owners of the druids arms !

I can't say this heart in hand but after their exploits in Bournemouth way back it doe's seem to be the norm...

Overall though I know a few of of their supporters, decent guys, bit of rib tickling each way but I always remind them they're not a big club anymore

I'm afraid you seem to be right. I don't think they have the slightest idea how they will cope with crowds of 22000 not so much arriving together as trying to get away afterwards. There is very little closeby street parking; a tin-pot station which appears totally inadequate for long, crowded and more importantly, frequent, trains; park and ride schemes which often struggled at Withdean and... who knows?
It's all very well saying people can walk or cycle but the ground is hardly in the middle of a built-up area. I'm sure things will eventually sort themselves out but how many will have become totally disillusioned by then. No matter how keen a supporter you might be, are you really prepared to spend another two or three hours getting to and from the games?
As far I can see, there have been no definitive statements about how things will operate - and yes, people do like to plan in advance.

Hence the concourses with flat panel tv's and the ability to meet friends for a couple of pints after the game. Its a couple of pints. watch the vidiprinter then most people will be gone by the time you get to the station. Word has it though that Palace are massively up for their away trip

Call me niave if you wish but two of our biggest games Leeds and Pystal Chalace are eveniing games how do they propose getting everybody out of the ground and on trains etc late ate night. There is already massive concern about supporters leaving the ground as people are not sure of how it will work and how easy it will be with 20000 leaving mostly as soon as the game ends. Prpobably no more than 2000 will wait behind until later. I would have thought that a Saturday afternoon would have been a lot easier for both games and no more difficult for the police to patrol and supervise. Other forces manage larger crowds without a problem.

There's a holding area for running stock both at Lewes and Brighton, for example the Lewes one is simple, from holding area near Lewes send carriages on demand and from Brighton carriages will arrive after a southbound train has departed, pick up and return south. This is the plan and I would say at max 40% would travel by train anyway. Away supporters coaches and more importantly home supporters coaches will make their merry way home as that of the cars

Eh?

If 40% of a crowd of 22,500 want to travel by train, they'll have realised by the time the Palace game comes round that this can't be achieved. The railway probably has the capacity to cope with not much more than 15% of a sell-out crowd.

Because the railway has limited capacity, it's CAR PARKING that needs to be sorted out - especially since the figures reported last week to the City Council's Planning Committee indicate that far more people want to use Park & Ride than there are spaces available.

On a personal issue wife myself and inlaws are going to the New Forest with trailer tent on Fri 23rd Sept the idea being that we would set up and I would drive back on Saturday for the game and leave wife with sister and brother in law. Now I have to drive down there on the Friday set up and then leave to drive back for the game picking up in Ferring on the way. How would be the best suggested means of transport to The Amex as I will drive back to the New Forest after the game. Wife says I could miss that and the Palace game but I dont think she was serious, at least hope not. My idea was drive to a station either Portslade or Hove park and jump on the train.
