A bloke I work with is a hardcore Leeds fan & he said it was on police advice.I don't know where he found out from maybe the Leeds united website but he told me about the switch before it was posted on seagulls.co.uk.

Always truthful Bozza has already dispelled hearsay (lies) like that.

Call me niave if you wish but two of our biggest games Leeds and Pystal Chalace are eveniing games how do they propose getting everybody out of the ground and on trains etc late ate night. There is already massive concern about supporters leaving the ground as people are not sure of how it will work and how easy it will be with 20000 leaving mostly as soon as the game ends. Prpobably no more than 2000 will wait behind until later. I would have thought that a Saturday afternoon would have been a lot easier for both games and no more difficult for the police to patrol and supervise. Other forces manage larger crowds without a problem.
But you haven't read the thread! It's not about supervising people on a Saturday afternoon. It's about the fact that THOUSANDS of fans would have nowhere to park, because most of the car park spaces that are normally available wouldn't be available on the Saturday that was originally set for the Leeds game.

Nothing to do with the police.

The unavailabity of the University of Sussex car parks means the club cannot comply with the conditions of use (ie minimum 2,000 car parking spaces within 1.5km radius) for the Amex Stadium as specified in the planning consent. That's why the Leeds fixture, and any others similarly affected, have to be moved; it's got nothing to do with the police and I don't see the point, if that's what your suggesting, of pushing this on to them. The initial brief from Leeds Utd is unfortunate but, if the transparency of communication they've received from BHA is anything like the patronising, lazy, evasive side stepping that anyone posting a query on ATC about stadium transport have had to put up with in recent weeks then I'm not at all surprised. I'm 100% with Ed on this, the silence is deafening, the adjective I'd use is disgraceful.

How do you know the laziness wasn't with Leeds United? Easier for you to blame the Albion, I guess.

The uni knew this so why didnt the club say we cant play at home on Sat 24th Sept so the league gave a less supported or high leve fixture like eg Barnsley or Burnley thaty could have been switched to Fri or have played the Leeds game on Sunday, b ut that would have interferred with the Palace game. There doesnt seem a lot of thought going into the fixtures. Palace and Leeds somewhat, was an obvious for Mid Nov or Mid January in Brighton on a Saturday, when nothing else was going on.

You haven't got it have you? The Leeds game has been moved to Friday for one reason only ... Sussex University's car park isn't available to Albion fans on the Saturday, because of an event at the university. The game would have been moved, even if it was against Barnsley or Hull.

If you look on the University website, you'll see that Sussex University can veto games on dates that don't suit them:-

Q: What happens if the University is holding an open day or admissions day when the football club wants to play a home match?

A: Under the licence agreement between the University and Brighton & Hove Albion, the University would notify the club if it were unable to provide car parking on any of the proposed dates on the club's fixture list. The club would then come up with an alternative date.

Questions and answers : Falmer stadium : University of Sussex

Don't believe you....................well maybe.

Will WPC Krabappel be drafted in for an evening shift to oversee away fans inside the ground ? Will her ST be available for this game ?

The Albion have given no explanation at all of why the Leeds fixture was moved.

Brighton and Hove Albion | News | Latest News | Latest News | Albion Fixture Changes

Leeds are saying that the fixture has been moved "at the request of the police". It hasn't. It's been moved at the insistence of Sussex University.

Inevitably, this has led to speculation about what caused the police to have concerns. All of that speculation could have been avoided if the Albion had explained the decision. They haven't. A poor show, in my opinion.

Many good points made on this thread.

In particular the inadequate communication from the club, presumably the message reaching the far end of the 'empire' in Yorkshire did not adequately describe the reasons for the change.

But this is no different from many queries previously submitted and I, as I post here, still await a response from 10 April on ATC on the subject of 'Travel Issues'. Believe me, I am not someone who wishes or tries to be difficult or confrontational but, as there was no response, I decided to subscribe to Seagulls Travel thereby commiting myself to £139.00 of expenditure for travel to all home league matches. I would very much rather have been travelling by train .....? but coach seemed the only reliable/practical way of getting to the Amex ( AND HOME AGAIN MORE TO THE POINT).

I truly hope that everything works out and that we will be able to get into and out of the Albion's wonderful stadium without it becoming a horrendous fortnightly experience.

Best

As a previous poster has said, all this nonsence has come about because of the poor communications of the club.

With three weeks to go until the first Falmer game, "the club" is still in discussions about the temporary car park and so on.

Until there is a definate decision about such items, a vacuum is allowed to develop in the meantime.

Into that vacuum falls the usual brigade of "a little info is dangerous".

So many threads on here lately are because many people do like to plan ahead, but to date the club is merely saying "trust us, we will tell you in good time".

It does seem that after all these years, a rather lot of detail is being left to the last minute.

I'm sure it will be sorted out eventually, but personally I imagine a few growing pains for the next month or so.

Al. True, I don't know.
However, who's to 'blame'/responsible for the bollox that Insider's been putting out for the past weeks/months when there has clearly been information that the club could have announced?
Latest eg: I had an email from the Seagull Travel Co. this week telling me that they were waving their requirement for payment of the non-returnable coach travel deposit for just over a week pending announcement of the travel arrangemnets for the Amex. Now, if they've been told when it's going to be announced then why haven't the fans?

Wasn't the moving of the game more to do with Brighton/Sussex Uni enrolment weekend?

Would that mean we're not allowed to cheer during their mocks and proper exams. More's to the point when could we play, surely night games should be ok as they'll all be in town spending their grants on booze. Day games could be another matter as the feckers will be sleeping all day from their night out before, can't wake the little cherubs from their slumbers. Actually why dont the club tell them that its a student protest sit-in at Falmer, guaranteed 1000 extra paying guests through the turnstiles. When and if they do start working their ideology will soon turn 180 degree's

Wouldn't it have been a lot simpler for the club to say the Leeds game had been moved forward a day on Police advice due to admissions day on the 24th at the Uni and there was inadequate parking facilities for both Uni attendees and football supporters ? By just saying it was moved on Police advice sent out all the wrong messages.

1 the club never said it was moved on police advice. (Leeds did for some reason)

2 It wouldn't have been simpler for the club to say the game was moved on police advice due to parking because the police did not issue any such advice, having had nothing to do with the decision.

If it had been down to the Police then they'd have made it 12.00 on a Sunday surely? That was why on another thread I was quick off the mark to blame Sky because they like their Friday night football and bollocks to away fans who travel the length of the country. I find it strange that Palace isn't a weekend match which could have been moved to an early Sunday kick-off; being on a Tuesday night enables fans plenty of time to sink a few pints and more potential for trouble.

It seems the club are damned if they do and damned if they don't. This is a brand new stadium and I very much anticipate that access and departure are not going to run smoothly for the first couple of games. All this whinging because the club haven't released a statement about transport. Perhaps, the thought occurs that it is not yet all finalised. Should the club spend time making pronouncements about every single issue to keep a bunch of keyboard warriors happy until they have unearthed the next issue they want to question.

The club are probably working hard to get the agreements in place, sort out costings and more importantly, to get a stadium ready for the first fixture etc etc.

Admittedly the club could have saved us all some time by merely stating the reason for the change but for christ's sake it's not the end of the world.

Correct. Some people looking for anything to complain about.
In reality, happy times with Gus and the incredible Amex.

Are you sure about that? I had an e mail from them on 23 June which said they were extending the deadline to beyond 30th when you were meant to have paid the deposit. The new payment dates were staggered by the initial of your surname.
