Sorry, I am way behind the drag curve on this (been working in the states) but is this the same Simon Barnes that writes in The Times ?
Lets hope the Times picks up on this.Tooting Gull said:No. On that point, I wonder if the ageing hippie wordsmith has received any correspondence in error...
I'm glad they have some evidence, because if we don't get Falmer at least these people can't say they weren't warned when a big shit storm comes their way, starting with that poisonous slag who shall remain namelesschip said:Isn't that just the sort of thing he is on about? There are plenty of threads on here that would provide Mr Barnes with more than enough "evidence" to claim abuse and intimidation of Falmer village and LDC. Not agreeing with him, just saying its not hard to see where he is coming from and why he adopted the arguments he did in that letter.

Dear Sir or Madam,
In response to Simon Barnes’ letter, I would be grateful to know what particular acts (plural) that the club/fans have carried out, can be classed as intimidating? To suggest that Roz South ‘could’ be responsible for inciting or condoning violence is far fetched.
I am lead to believe by the Sussex Police, that the “fans” involved in the fracas, after the Leeds game, had not attended the football, bar one exception.
Should destructive letters, such as Mr Barnes’ be printed? Should the whole of Sussex suffer the loss of a stadium, due to a small minority sending foul and abusive emails/phone calls?
I have noticed that Simon Barnes, appears to be a serial letter writer, bandying about accusations against the fans and supporters of the stadium, even club officials. Is this an underhand attempt to undermime the clubs position and 'sway' the public feeling?
Kind regards,
?a?l ?r?o?

"Dear Sir,
As an exiled Lewesian and Brighton and Hove Albion season ticket holder I read Simon Barnes comments about Roz South with interest.
Mr Barnes' attempts to link the peaceful and good humoured campaign for a Community Stadium to the actions of a few mindless thugs merely demonstrates the increasing desperation of those who wish to waste Council Tax payers money on pursuing a blatantly political vendetta. I am sure many LDC resident would wish the Council was as committed to providing adequate flood defences and halting the imposition of the Newhaven incinerator as it appears to be in carrying on the work of former LibDem MP for Eastbourne, Mr Belotti, under whose stewardship the Goldstone Ground was sold and this saga initiated.
Roz South is well known to many involved both with bonfire and with Sussex sport and Mr Barnes' attempt to paint her as the instigator of some non-existent campaign of harassment is as ludicrous as it is offensive."

Maybe ... but no amount of misreading of NSC justifies a claim that Roz has committed an offence against Ann de Vecchi.tedebear said:I agree Chip and it worries me - its all well and good to use NSC to rally support for the cause, but there are a few amongst us who could quite easily have been sued countless times over for various postings which intimate abuse or acts of violence to be carried out.....its a very fine line being walked with message boards given LDC's obvious reading of it...
