So how come you've got f**k all to show for it?

Depends what your standards are. In the last 50 years, Albion spent four years in the top league, rather less than they spent in the bottom two. They reached but one Cup Final (and Semi-Final).

Palace have spent 17 years in the Top Division and only three below the second tier. We've reached two FA Cup Finals and four Semi-finals. Also got to the League Cup s/f.

We've REALLY missed out on Johnstone's Paint and The Freight Rover Mugs though.

So you've NEARLY won something, and NEARLY got a decent stadium? (well, not that near really). Whereas we've also nearly won something and ACTUALLY got a state of the art stadium and state of the art training facilities.

Beyond the rivalry as like a few on here I know quite a few Palace fans. Well I do live up here.

I've never understood Palace. That ground.

It's gone beyond "old school" into borderline condemned. These days it doesn't even grace league one.

Most clubs would have least attempted to renew a stand or two. Their time in the top league would have been the time to do it.

If they get relegated what do the owners do ? Wait for it to simply fall down ?

I know that's easy to say with out infrastructure - but Watford and Burnley are better.

Never got that.

Can't understand why they haven't gone ok - I've gonna use that Premier League money to improve the ground. If we go down well that will help bring back our fickle fans in the championship.

There appears to be absolutely no long term sustainable future, They obviously have the ability to bring through players - but will always struggle every year or so.

Its almost as if the place is designed to be a yo yo club.

Odd.

You're being harsh they have spent a serious amount on the floodlights, they will have the best Light Show in the Championship, that will keep the fans flocking in.

44 out of nearly 100, most of which were actually before World War Two. How many seasons in the last 50 years, pray?

And of those seasons in only TWO out of FIFTY did Albion play at a higher level.

To quote my old history teacher

'History is often quoted by people who do not have a good future to look forward to'

Think no-one argues that in history you have been playing at a higher level and understand your total fear that your future does not look as good as ours, which to be honest is the fault of your clubs management in just looking at the team and believing you can buy success, you cant. Where will you be in 5 years? and where will be?, good question?, looks very good for us, does it for you? if you continue on this road to ruin. I actually feel for the Palace fans, who like us, are football fans, but they are being taken for a ride by these Yanks and Prince Charming, although a good man, he is too weak to do anything. Its a shame, a real shame.

Lets take the AMEX out of the equation.

You must look around all the stadiums in the top 2 divisions and wish you had some of that.

Some historical greatness, Newcastle Villa, etc, we can side step those too, very few teams can compete with those grounds.

But being jealous of some of the shitkicker clubs like Southampton, Reading, Stoke, Cardiff, Boro, has got to be such a kick in the teeth.
That's before we even take into account the League 1 teams, and training on a municipal park.

Are you forgetting when you were one of the founder members of the fourth division and we were in the old second division?

Add to that their academy training at a public 'goals' centre.....laughable really. That was one of their real strengths in days gone by, not so much these days I suspect.

Not bad going for a Football Club only formed 7 years ago.
